Which is more important to you: PORTABLE or HOME rig? - Page 4

Home rig.

Travel rig is very useful but can't match a home set up.

that's really a tough one ..

my home rig sounds very very good these days, but I MUST HAVE my iMod/Hornet/E500's because at my gym they pipe in that Muzak horse manure pop and I would go insane if I did not have my precious mp3 rig with me to tune it out

Home rig. Don't care much for portable sound anymore, it just never satisfies. Plus when not home I am usually engaged in some activity that does require my ability to hear.

A big part of the reason I am moving toward portable is because I live in such a high noise environment that I am begging for customs to plug up my ears so that I quit sticking my fingers in them.

id say portable for me because i need music more when im on the move as pure entertainment while doing boring walking.

theres no doubt a home system sounds superb but with a super good amp and excellent headphones and a real good tweaked or modded source you really can get outstanding super hifi sound

Definitely my home rig. My portable rig doesn't see that much use. My work environment is too dusty to risk using my portable rig, so it gets used while biking and walking the pooch, or on the long walks I like to take on the beach in the early evenings.

I find that I like the ease of just plugging my Denon AH-D1001's straight into my iPod classic. I'm able to separate critical listening for convenience in my portable rig.

At home it's quite a different matter, and I'm getting really itchy to have my new DAC and amp that are being built for me. I listen to music a great deal at home, and I want it to sound as good as I can get it. I'm hoping my new upgrades will keep me smiling for a long time.

It depends on which rig you spend more. In my view, quite general reason, home rig is much important for me because the time I spend at home is the real relaxing moment of the days after back from work.

One day I hope to use speakers at home. I put unholy amounts of cash towards my portable rig and use it while save up for the day I can get something decent. I'm not as much of a stickler when it comes to the best for the speaker rig as I am towards headphones, I am by no means rich in the traditional sense.

i agree completely. I love listening to music everywhere. I find that everywhere gives a different feel to the music I'm listening to opposed to just sitting in my room all the time and listening. I love listening to music when I'm riding passenger in the car or on airplanes or even out in the jungle : p.
