I bought the Sony nine months ago from a Head-fi'er. It's been a good player for me, but it has seen better days. Some issues to note up front:
1. There is one screw missing, and the casing relies on some very flimsy 'tabs ' attached to the inner housing in order to shut properly, so.. it now needs a fat rubber band to hold it together. Not as crazy as it sounds, I've used it this way for quite a while with no apparent issues.
2. I had recent some problems with the unit freezing up, and eventually resets caused an issue as well. Long and short, I had to reformat the drive. It seems to work ok now - but my computer no longer recognizes the device.
The Sony has great sound, and uses Sony's proprietary version of ATRAC. Details/review of the unit & firmware 3.0 can be read here. This player uses a Toshiba HD like most hd dap's. I've decided to go for the refurb Zune 30. I did speak with Sony USA today and they said it will cost $68 flat rate to repair anything that may be wrong (includes 90 day warranty). I just don't feel like dealing with this at the moment.
Included: USB cradle/charger, car charger, and the clip-on remote (wired). I might have the earphones and owners manual/cd's somewhere, we moved this summer so I'd have to look around for it.
The latest software & firmware is available online, along with the owners manual and support tips.
PM me with an offer...I'll probably take something close to $50 for it.
