Can the GS1000 just be re-terminated, or does it need a new cable?

Can the GS1000 just be re-terminated, or does it need a new cable? If the latter is this easy or does the wood housing make this difficult/impossible? I know some have sold their SE to buy a balanced version, but others have claimed to re-cable themselves.

Sorry, if this is obvious, but anyone know?

It's a PITA with the wooden cup grados as you need to seperate the two parts that are held together by hot glue. I know ALO and Moon audio do this as a regular service. I would think doing this as a one off DIY could be potentially risky as you have to heat up the cups to get the glue to release then recable then reglue.
I have vintage rs1s that I would love to have recabled and balaced but I am a bit nervous about damage to the driver housing.

i don't have a GS1000, but i know that my RS1 and SR325 can be/were converted to balanced through retermination alone - i.e., no recabling needed. as for a complete recabling, ALO told me that they would not recable my RS1s because the wooden housings were to fragile. Another cable maker told me it could be done but was more expensive than a normal job, because it was more difficult and more time was required.

i assume the GS1000 would be similar in both respects.

re-terminate the stock cable.

cut off the TRS and put on a 4-pin XLR.
THEN
build up a 4-pin to 1/4" and a 4-pin to 2X3-pin xlr and call it a day.
Alternately, put a 4-pin XLR on the front of your amp.
