ok to share brickwall surge protector?

i have the 8 outlet 15amp brickwall surge protector...right now i have my amp, dac, and squeezebox plugged into it...in a separate much cheaper surge protector i have that is plugged into the same wall outlet as the brickwall, it has my tv, cable box, dvd and whatever else plugged into it. would it be fine to just put my tv and everything else on the brickwall along with my headphone setup? this way i can have just one surge instead of 2?

thanks

Your headphone setup isn't likely to pull much power compared to your tv, so I don't see much of a problem in terms of safety. However you may run into noise problems with that set up. The only way to find out is to try.

You'd need to have a monster of a TV for it combined with your headphone setup to draw 15A, so it should be safe. Check your TV manual if you are cautious.

Also, the difference between the standard and audiophile brickwall protectors is the audiophile one has an independent circuit for every power plug, by independent meaning designed such that any noise is isolated from the other plugs. What this means topologically I don't know, but I think Brickwall has the schematics somewhere on their site.

That being said, any well designed TV should be "quiet" enough that it's inaudible. I would go a step further to say it would have to be improperly designed or defective for it to pollute the power to the point that it is audible, especially with basic filters in your audio gear.

great, thanks for the help guys! much appreciated

i didnt think it would be a problem in terms of safety, just didn't know what it meant in terms of audio quality...i personally hear no difference, but i feel like some people on this site tend to hear things that i dont, as i am pretty new to a hi-fi setup..

I'm resuscitating this thread because I just added, perhaps stupidly, a Samsung LCD TV to my listening room and it has caused an unacceptablly loud hum in my turntable rig whenever the TV is plugged in, including when its on standby. The TT is grounded and used to be dead quiet. They are plugged in to separate outlets. The TT and TV are a good ten feet apart.

I've been procrastinating on getting a Brickwall for the audio gear. I'm going to order it now and hope it solves the problem, but I'm not optimistic.
