This unique cable transfers digital audio files on your computer into quality analog audio. It is the ideal accessory to convert your headphone amp in an external sound card! How does it work? Just connect the USB port of your computer with the input jack of your headphone amp and the DAC cable automatically does all the digital-to-analog conversation! The result is a much better sound then most standard audio cards would provide! The cable uses TI's 16-bit killer DAC chip PCM2704 that accepts 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz sampling rates.

i've never seen those before
are they good? do they work well?
are they worth 35bux + shipping? =/

The quality of the sound depends on the DAC itself, not the fact that it is somehow encased in a cable. I would really invest in something better if I were you. The Alien DAC would be a good option if you are not looking to spend a lot.

the alien dac is a DIY USB DAC.

It's a fairly easy project so you could buy a kit and build your own while learning to solder at the same time.

or you can have someone make you one. For a built one, you should expect $50-60. A kit is about $35.

I am not too familiar with the cable dac you've posted, but I would bet that the Alien DAC is superior due to the ability to have more space for more optimized circuitry. Plus, the Alien DAC is well regarded among head-fi 'ers
