When you say Pico has a top-notch DAC, then how you rate those from Lavry, Benchmark, Stello, Wavelength, Monarchy, MSB, Esoteric, and Wadia ? In my opinion, the Pico has a very good implementation of a USB based DAC in a small package. I would also agree the DAC version of Pico is an "almost" perfect companion to a portable computer. But saying it as top-notch DAC I would have reservations. Granted, I haven't heard it yet, but this is almost a disbelief that the Pico is on par with those dedicated external DACs

While you are at it, drop in the B-52, RSA Apache, and Zana Deux and comment on your disbelief. Also add in some $100,000 speakers system into the equation and state your doubts (“this is almost disbelief that a headphone system (smaller space requirement) is on par with those dedicated speaker’s system (room dynamic, etc) – pricing in the 6 figures”). By the way, since you are on a roll, drop by all the portable threads and let those idiots know that dedicated AMP and dedicated DAC costing multiple times more are better sounding.
You ride into a portable “speculation” thread on your white high horse whipping out what can only be considered as narcissistic ego driven listing what the term “top-notch” DAC is. According to you, what is an appropriate adjective to describe the Pico’s DAC?
-Good
-Stella
-Top-notch for portable (same thing as top-notch when in the context of a portable thread)
-Fantastic
-Spectacular (see top-notch for portable)
-First class
-Respectable
I would like to see you take the Opera DAC/AMP combo to Starbucks, library, beach, park, etc… and indulged in your belief.
I do not appreciate your rant base on the technicality of an adjective.

,I was expecting some one over 60+ probabaly a retired old rocket scientist wiht his own ecctnric behaviour and a sharp stare and specs resting on the tip of his nose looking closley at those circuit boards doing his work.
