The gear culling continues with another superb source, this one from Dan Wright at Modwright. Dan's work has received rave reviews, and can be found all over the internet. This unit plays CDs, SACDs, and DVD-V (not DVD-A). I bought this unit from jpelg in January of this year, and it has served me well, but the time has come for me to part with it (going balanced). Aside from some fingerprints and smudges on the top of the unit, it is in excellent cosmetic condition. It is in the same functional condition as the day I purchased it, which is to say perfect.
The stereo tubed output stage employs 5687 tubes. The multichannel output is still active, but is stock, and does not employ tubes. The Modwright 999es uses an overbuilt external power supply for the output stage, which turns on and off independently of the unit. This means two power chords are required. A custom made umbilical (included) connects the power supply to the output stage.
Also included will be one pair of Tung-Sol 5687s (shown below).
