I was thinking of a quick, dirty wireless setup for a pair of your own removable-cord headphones and an mp3, everything small enough to fit in pockets.
From what I assume, the transmitter would have to run, well, i don't know. One viable method would probably be bluetooth, with it's 3mbps (varying sources, others say 720kbps) transmission rate, anybody know alternatives? Transmitter size would probably have to be ipod-sized, although preferably less.
The receiver would probably have to be smaller than, say, an altoids gum tin and have something to do with 3.5 mm jacks.
I've been scoping out products for this sort of thing, but have found none with this exact purpose. Would I be able to exploit a phone receiver,(bad quality) or could somebody actually DIY this sort of thing? Unfortunately, i'm worthless with a soldering iron in my hand, so i wouldn't know where to start.
edit: found a transmitter, and cheap. Will post more. Really, all I'd need now is a receiver that isn't already a pair of headphones.

Huh, guess somebody shells an HP setup and adapts it. Looks pretty bulky and ugly, though.

Maybe I can tear this one up:

This ericsson product is perfect for what I need, although the annoyances of it's high price and F instead of M connection is a bit grating.

Just putting this for reference, couldn't find any at my local radio shack. go figure. Wish there was smaller, though.

If there's a need to actually use a headset for this sort of thing, EMU to 3.5mm adapter:
