iPod syncing woes

Okay, so all of a sudden, my iPod, (5th Gen 60GB latest firmware) when I try to sync my library with nothing on the iPod, (which is about 7000 lame encoded V0 mp3's) somewhere along the way, I get the blue screen of death (Windows XP SP2). This happens without fail, but there seems to be no clear pattern as to when and where it happens. Sometimes, it'll go for a half hour before crashing, sometimes 5 minutes, and sometimes 30 seconds. I've tried using Itunes, winamp and foobar2000 for this and it always happens. I've also tried reloading the iPod firmware, but that doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem? This is really frustrating me. Any help would be appreciated.

Does this happen when you press sync only? What about just dragging and dropping?

Yeah, by syncing, I meant copying files to the iPod in general.

So you only blue screen when you try to sync?

Yeah, only with the iPod. Other USB devices work fine.

I'd remove iTunes completely, then shut down.

Then I'd restart and re-install iTunes.

Tried that, even tried installing an older version of iTunes. Still no luck. But I wonder why iTunes would be the problem if the same happens with winamp and foobar2k

Anyone else have this issue?

YOU CAN TRY A HARD RESET ON THE IPOD. HOLD DOWN THE CENTER BUTTON AND (I FORGOT) IT WILL BE EITHER THE LOWER OR UPPER BUTTON OF THE CLICK WHEEL UNTIL THE APPLE LOGO APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. YOUR IPOD HAS BEEN RESET. TRY TO SYNC NOW.

Yeah, I've already tried that. Didn't work.

This sounds like an electrical problem. Try a different USB port, then a different USB cable IN a different USB port.

Nope. Tried a different cable in several different ports. No luck. This is getting ridiculous.

No, I haven't and that might help, but unfortunately, I don't have any other computers available to me. But I'll try this: lots of small doses of adding songs. Maybe 100 or 200 at a time. Of course, this will take a while considering my library of about 7000 songs, but we'll see if this works.
