The difference between low current and high current mode is primarily a question of the
maximum power the amp can deliver into various loads. The actual sound signature of the amp should remain essentially the same. Of course there will be less available headroom in low current mode and therefore a difference in the quality of the sound may be perceivable, particularly with high impedance headphones under battery power. That being said, the HEADSIX is still capable of providing plenty of power and as a small portable headphone amplifier with typically low impedance street cans, should be the bargain of the century.
