I was watching a DVD, playing around with some of the 5.1 options on my Yamaha HTR-5540, when all of a sudden I realized I had nothing coming out of the center channel -- people speaking with no sound coming out of their mouths is a bad thing! Trying to switch back to regular DD did nothing to help. Then, a few seconds later, I hit the "Jazz Club" DSP out of desperation, and lo and behold my center channel was back. From that point on, the center channel performed flawlessly on all my DSP settings, and after replaying that section of the DVD I failed to duplicate the problem.
I figure this must be either:
1. A burp in my DVD player (or even a slightly glitchy disc);
2. A momentary cut-out in my Yamaha's signal processor;
3. I hit some stupid sequence of DSP buttons that caused the Yamaha to get confused; or
4. A total fluke.
What do you think is most likely?
The Yamaha is brand-new, and I still have 3 weeks to return it.
