Dallas Headphone Meeting Report! - Page 3

Good lord, you guys, cut me some slack! I haven't had decent Mexican food since I left Texas two years ago. The only thing even close to Texas food I get is when I go to visit my sister (also a Texan) in San Jose and she cooks for me. She fixes a mean chicken fried steak!

Oh, Man! Is that ever the truth! You got better Mexican food than they got in Mexico!
No way José... I mean Red. That ain't true, unless it is made by Mexicans and not by Taco Bell Texan food is great, but is would never compare to Mexican food made in Mexico. And I can swear on that. I have been all over the U.S., and the only place I have ever find great tasting Mexican food was in Homestead, Florida, in a restaurant in Miami and a small place in Atlanta. All of them, run by Mexicans. You just gotta have it in your blood to make it taste like the real thing. Anyway, it's just IMHO.

And RickG, I also love chicken fried steak.

Wow, flumpus' post had 10 's. I think that's the most I've seen in one post at head-fi...

Most of the people in Texas ARE Mexican nowadays!

Yep, that's true. Mexican or of Mexican heritage. But really, the food tastes different, no better or worse, just different. But still great.

So when is the next one of these things? I'd love to have the opportunity to sample other people's equipment... and of course bring whatever I've managed to get by then.

I think I've actually met Nick before but I'm not sure where--probably something to do with Ben and beer, though.

I didn't say they weren't Mexicans. (Maybe Texicans?) Anyway, I loooove Tex-Mex cookin'!!

Come to think of it, I think Texas has better Japanese food than Japan (and yes, its made by Japanese Texans).

But reguardless, Onix, if I am ever in Mexico City, I'll expect a tour of finer dinning establishments.

Looks like the next Head-Fi Dallas get-together should include MAJOR catering. Maybe we can get some of these Yankees to come down and "sit a spell". But I don't recommend eating chips while you have your Ety's in.

Flumpus, sorry we are WAY off the subject but if you wave food in front of me, I'll follow anybody.

Dude, we got more people from Dallas! About time for another head-fi get together I think

Count me in, buddy!

I no longer have my X-Cans to bring... but judging from the response at last year's meeting I doubt that would be a problem.

I am getting a new MG Head OTL in a week, and I also purchased a handful of tubes for it (Ei EL84, JJ EL84, Svetlana 12AU7). Count me in for bringing that and my Clou Blue again. Perhaps a live tube-roll is in order for those who have never done it?

BTW... as soon as the Oris 200 Project is completed, I believe I'll be hosting the next get-together. Should be setup, tweaked, and ready to go by this fall or perhaps winter. Perfection takes time, yanno.

Yah, highly possible that we met at Flying Saucer in the company of Mr. Groves. How's he doin these days?

I won't have my MG Head OTL for a couple of weeks yet--waiting for Divergent to get more in stock. I'm going to hold off on ordering tubes and read up more on it--I'd love to be able to A/B whatever you bring.

Hopefully my Corda HA-1 and Beyer DT831s will be here soon. I've got a Sony 25S on the way and a pair of Sennheiser HD600s (stock cables) and my old Panasonic SL-320 here now.

Time to start a new thread under "Get Togethers"!!!

The Grovesman is fine, still cranking out 3D and hi-tech games like you wouldn't believe. With all this talk of tech toys and food, I think a return to the Saucer (or perhaps Uncle Julio's) is in order. All this talk of Tex-Mex is driving me crazy!

Here's his page:

Let's nag him to update it.
