I wasn't impressed with SRD-7 MK2 + speaker amps driving the Omega II compared to my T1S (loss of detail and soundstage) so I would rather get a 717 (or maybe a T1 if money is tight).

Transformers aren't for everyone but a properly built high end unit driven by a very good amp should give the dedicated amps some competition. It's not going to be cheap though since good transformers cost 400-600$ each and then there is the bias supply (the stock one in the SRD-7's isn't really suitable for the Omega lineup), chassis and all the hardware needed (connectors, wire and switches).

MAX budget I'll be able to swing is in the KGSS range. I am looking for a way to do it cheaper, and MAYBE better with a spkr amp. I don't want to take a chance with DIY and phones this expensive. Can you describe a way to do the spkr amp setup?

Ok, so I still haven't given up on this yet. Is there a design out there for an adapter that would be "The Deal" for the OII?

I would like to do this:

A-GD REF 1 DAC >> CAST >> A-GD Phoenix >> Threshold SA-3(50 Watts Class A) >> "Interface Box" >> SR-007 OII

Anybody know of an Adapter scheme to pull this off well?

I am also on the lookout for a transformer "worthy" the O2, but there are not all that much info out there.

Hi,
Thanx! I had read some threads but not your second thread there. That seems to be the one to sub to. Is this a waste of time for me? I thought this solution with a Good amp like a Krell or Threshold would be a better solution than the commercial alternatives being offered like GES or KGSS. I am only interested in the OII MK II, not any other STAX. I don't have the scratch for a BHSE, and I'm still wondering if this would be a better solution.
