Kenwood HD60GD9 and HD60GD9EC Availability Update - Page 7

Hey Everyone

My friend in Japan just recieved my HD60GD9EC so she's posting it to me tomorrow, should be here soon! I can finally put my ue11's to the test!

Has anyone else had theirs delivered?

I live in the UK though, am I gonna need an AC adapter from kenwood (which I'll then need to convert to UK plug) or can I get one 'off-the-shelf'? Lemme know, I'll share pics when the playa arrives!!

My Hd60gd9 didin't come with a charger, so I now use my PSP charger as it has the same output voltage and a higer ampage. As the player only draws the amount of current needed to charge the battery it will not damage your device or battery.

The charger is optional and only available on Kenwood's site. I ordered it when I did the HD60GD9EC. I just got confirmation my EC is coming soon ...

my hd60gd9ec yesterday and i'm very happy from the brief listening that i have done so far.

use an ac to usb converter and you'll be pretty happy with the result (it outputs 5v as the kenwood charger so in 2.5 /3 hours is charged fully)

i am quite puzzled of that little hiss that sometimes (depends i think from bad record) i hear, at low volumes. but not on all songs.

it is too bad that only the 60gb version plays back aac

So, it seems the EC still has hiss.

are the electronics between the 3 different ? becuase maybe the 60gb firmware can be modded for the 20 and 30gb

Might not be completely legal but someone with a HD60GD9 could download the OS backup from the Kenwood site with a model ID# and post it or PM it. I would be willing to throw it on my HD30GB9 and see if it'll work.

Be careful anyway. I wouldn't want to see any of you with a bricked Kenwood.

I do not own a portable player yet, but I would be put of if it is comon for all portable media players to have hiss?, in particular one that is expensive.

OUCH

Finally finished semester and cracked open my HD60gd9ec to find... a huge disappointment. I used my ue-11's and had two major problems:

1. I can only listen to the volume on 2 or 3 (out of 40) before it becomes uncomfortably loud

2. There's an unbearable amount of hiss at these levels. I can't enjoy the songs because it's so distracting and makes my head ache after a while. I don't think it's the mp3s, I've ripped them at alt-extreme and they're perfect on my X5 =(

So now I have to listen with the crappy buds which came with it, when I hit campus I'll try my Grado's which should reduce the hiss but still: What am I supposed to do with my ue-11's?? I was thinking about using a volume attenuator but that's a: an added cost of time and money and b: degrading sound quality (and I only bought this thing for the legendary sound). Will I have to use an attenuator anyway? Will it even help?

Considering I paid mucho moolah and waited for months anticipating its release I'm pretty let down. Hopefully you'll fare better but if you guys have any ideas I'd appreciate them, does anyone suffer the same problem? Steph?

unbearable huh? i wonder why? does regular cheapo buds have a higher impedance than the UE-11?? aside from the hiss, how is the SQ?

silly... ec version don't came with earbuds....

i have tested mine with ath-cm7ti earbuds, senn px100, alessandro MS2i and beyer dt990/32. all of them are good performers, but.. dt990 is a "kind of magic" to my ears, i've never tought guitars could be so realistic and natural out a dap! try voodoo lounge rolling stone album with them you'll be amazed! the only downside is that are EXTREMELY record-dependent.
my favourite second tier (but far away) are px100

Yeah I don't know man, maybe there's hiss because I'm putting styrofoam peanuts in my ears... I wonder why I got headphones and most people don't, very weird.

Apart from the hiss the SQ is amazing, but that's like saying apart from the jewish thing Hitler was a pretty nice guy
