got my clou red

bought these used for $85 from a fellow head-fier. Initial impressions when I took them out of the envelope...HOLY CRAP, they're thicker than my ethernet cables!!! and 5 times stiffer than them too!! I knew they were really stiff and thick, but man, they're REALLLY stiff and thick. They look very red, a really glossy and shiney red and the 1/4in plug is pretty big as well, completely gold. There's also a spring behind it to help support the cables weight when hooked onto a component/amp, little things that help justify the price I guess. Since they were used I guess I didn't have to deal with burn in so here's my initial impressions: Totally worth the $85 (not sure if i'd buy it if it was new, rather save some more and go cardas). I immediately noticed a difference from the stock cables. Suddenly my 600s were much more alive. On a big band track from the volkswagen commercial music compialation the cymbals were ringing with excitement. All the percussion intruments were just more fun to listen to. I have definitely noticed a slight sharp/higher treble now, but having been religiously using grados for the previous two years, I don't mind it at all. The soundstage increased very slightly, but still very noticeable. The already good vocals on the 600s also slightly improved as well. It just seemed to be alot more detailed to me. For kicks, after using the clou reds for a half hour or so I decided to try the stock cable again. Using the same big band track, it just wasn't enjoyable at all with everything sounding very dull to me. There was definitely many things missing. Overall I still can't believe how this cable changed how my 600s behaved so dramatically, though it kind gets out of its laid back quality and lets loose a bit.

Good luck with the Reds. Now it's time for the Cardas upgrade...
