Livewires - California Dreamin' - Page 4

Alex would be the best bet for a recable at Apuresound. I can only hope. I need to send him my MS-1's already.

I'm sure if someone were to sell cables with a black connector, there'd be some immediate sales.

Or maybe a lower profile one?

AFAIK the only connector that EarPeace found were gold, and their supplier wouldn't make a black one. They're going to experiment painting mine black.

Well, Thursday will have been about 20 days from when my impressions arrived at their PO Box.

wow, i would love a custom cable for these...i hate the current cable. could also get a little resistor integrated into the cable to cut down on the hiss...

i personally want a cable that accentuates the highs a bit more and tightens up the bass. these are my two complaints with the LW...

How exactly would a cable change the driver?

You think it's possible to squeeze more juice from the Livewires?

How is a cable going to change the way they sound?

if you're of the mindset that the only thing that affects sound is the driver, then nothing i say about cables will change your mind.

while i certainly don't view cables as panaceas for poorly-implemented and poorly-developed drivers, cables can change the sound. the recabling of my previous k81dj tamed the boomy bass, for example.

I have recabled KSC-75's from Alex and they are a completely different animal. It does make a difference. I feel if someone thinks it doesn't they would have a hard time proving it with a quality recable from a reputable company.

It's the same way that changing a pipe (whether in diameter or material etc.) will change the flow of water within it. Different materials and different sonic qualities will change the overall sound of the headphone.

It's a hot and highly argued topic at Head-Fi. Some people believe in it, some don't, some are indifferent.

You're right, the enclosure and how the drivers are placed have an effect too.

So having an interconnect the size of a garden hose makes the music come out slower?

i'm on the fence about these since some accounts seem to make them sound like the highs are rolled off/veiled. maybe something like the um2? is that what most of you guys have noticed? i'm a treble-head and love bright headphones but of course also love deep bass. i ended up ditching the um2 because the highs were too veiled for my tastes even though i used etymotic tips that were cut down to double flange.
