I got that too, and I'm assuming that is why they have not shipped the cable I ordered yet (which was one of the heavy duty type). Still, waiting 6+ weeks for a simple cable order without even a quick email note explaining the situation is not fun.

Tempted by Trips after a few reviews... Love my T1's, and these seem like an improvement...

 

Or I could just get my T1's repaired (and reshelled with new impressions while i'm at it)

 

...Hmmm. If I have to wait for so long to get them back though, maybe I should upgrade them and be done?!

 

Wait is the only thing that is bothering me!

Guys I ordered some replacement cables from Ear Piece at this website and never recieved them in the mail :-( I'm trying to get this resolved through PayPal, but just thought I'd post in case it hadn't been posted again. I'll be ordering another set from Fidelity Customs tomorrow. It doesn't seem that they have the heavy duty cable though, plus prices are about $10 more then at the Ear Piece website.

I am sure you have seen my posts about the fit and sonic issues of my In Ear Systems / Fidelity Dual's that I ordered one year ago.

 

Well, I took the advice of many regarding the nearly unusable volume levels making most of my gear too loud / noisy to use these with, and ordered a set of the 50 ohm Cables.

On January 21st, I placed the order online for a 50 ohm Cable, and then since they already came with a black cable, and I tend to do a lot of A/B'ing with everything, I then chose the drop down menu for "Clear" cable, figuring it would be much easier to tell which one was which in dark stages / studios, or if I had both draped over my shoulders. The total was charged to my credit card for $45.50

By the way, this is one of the only online vendors with a nearly impossible to navigate website (what is with that little square mini-window that try's to load their "new site"?). Even though the price for the 50 ohm cable says "+$8", the total at the bottom of the page never "updates". 

I figured I could geek out enough on a few gigs, in the studio, and then give them the ultimate test on a 3 hour airplane flight scheduled for March 10th.

 

After a couple weeks, I started calling, and getting the answer that they were expecting shipment in about 10 - 14 days.

Needless to say, my weekly calls lasted until March 5th, at which point I said I would begin disputing the credit card charge, as they had promised 3 times they would be here already.

Finally, 4 days after that, on March 9th, the package arrived at my workplace less than 24 hours before my flight, and needed to be intercepted from the Mail Truck so as not spend an extra day in the mailroom for employee department sorting!

 

I opened the box and the cable was Black.

I immediately called and was basically told that even though I ordered clear, that the website and order confirmation email neglected to tell me that this particular item only comes in Black regardless of the options listed and charged for. I was also told that I could not exchange my standard original cable for a clear one to accomplish my differentiation needs of having both cables in the same case...

They have since added a "disclaimer" above the order options, that the 50 ohm cable ONLY comes in Black, but this STILL does not lock out the color choice button when placing your order....

 

I took these on the prop plane and found the high end to be dulled slightly, the low end enhanced a hair, and the overall volume slightly decreased.

For this flight I used the standard cables to give me the high end back, and to save my batteries by reducing the headphone amp volume.

 

I have done a few A/B's with the cables and different consumer gear, and find that I will only use the 50 ohm cable when I need to have more even levels between these, and any other sets of headphones coming off of a common piece of equipment (mixing board w/ 2 or 3 sets of reference cans, headphone mixer, iPod "Y" Cable, etc.), or if the playback unti in question has so much self noise on the low volume settings that is interfering with the content playback (MacBook headphone jack....)

 

This is pretty much the topper to a $325+ total expense for a set of custom In-Ear's that tend to sit in their case while I log hours and hours on my Alessandro Music Series Two's (about the same "list" price) that seamlessly translate (and many times enhance) my mostly professional loudspeaker driven work day into the joy of headphones. It is only when I need to block out any extreme outside noise, or travel (plane, bus, subway) that I even consider dropping down to the Fidelity Dual's.

 

Catherine Neal, and their new phone sales guy have always been extremely helpful and quick with phone responses in all my dealings with them.

Unfortunately, it seems that this particular product and the vendor they get their parts and stock from is just completely unreliable for shipping, returns, refunds, or even customer satisfaction after an overlooked error on their online ordering system combines with months of re-fits, and shipment issues.

I mean, you think after 12 months of trying get them to make these "work" for me, the least they could do is accept my original cable back, and send me a clear one!

I need some cables for a trip I'm going on May 31st (honeymoon, woot!). I probably won't be doing a ton of music listening, but it'd be nice to have a nice set of portable, noise blocking phones for the plane-trip etc. The cables I have now only work in one ear, and I've been unable to repair them with my limited soldering skill. So, my question is, where ELSE can I get a replacement cable for my livewires? And fast? I  mean, I really do like the extra-long one that I got originally, and would like to keep that length. And I'd like to try the ones with the in-line resistors. And the heavy-duty ones seems cool too. But if I can get a short, non-resistored, braided set from ANYWHERE I'm willing to do it, as right now my Livewires have been gathering dust for far too long (months!)

So I went to my mail and found a box from Earpeace Technologies today. Excited, I opened it up, unwrapped everything and found... a cable without earpieces attached to it. Is this normal? Do they ship the earpieces separately...?

Maybe you got the cable I ordered 2 months ago?

Yeah who knows - I'll have to call them tomorrow and see what the deal is. The cable came with a note saying they were out of cases right now, but that they would mail me one as soon as possible and to enjoy my Livewires until then! Bleh.

Finally got the earpieces themselves in today. I think I had pressured them enough by calling every week that they just decided to send the cable and earpieces separately from different locations. Final total: 11.5 weeks from the day they received my impressions to when I could listen to my new pair of Livewires. Not impressive, unfortunately. But hey, it's all about the product, right?

 

Early impressions are very good, comfort is outstanding (this is my first pair of customs), sound is very balanced and terrific right out of the box (I don't hear any of the thickness, veil, or muffling that I generally would expect from products in need of some burn-in time, but regardless I'll let them play a bit). The only negative impression I have so far is that there is definitely some roll off in the lowest of bass regions - as you drop from mid bass to low bass the presence decreases slightly but noticeably.

Another quick note - I'm hearing some hiss with my TTVJ Slim that I couldn't pick up with my X10s. They are clearly rather sensitive here. It may also be the amp though - I get no hiss through my full size tube amp.

 

These sound outstanding with my Fuze.

My Livewires are sensitive to hiss like my ES3X, while other IEM are not.  My WA6 and ZDT are dead silent with any IEM, while my Amphora has varying levels of hiss depending on the IEM.  So, your experience is no surprise to me.
