| I dunno...that's what the guy said on the phone. I don't really know who that guy was or if he was really in the position to tell me that. Like I said...I think his name was Art. Definitely wasn't John (Diles) or Earl (Neal)...all I got was the first name. I mean I guess it could have been Earl but my hearing isn't that bad, I hope . |
| btw. what is OTOH? |

i really want to buy these, but the notion of them being too sterile and lacking a lil more oomph (plus the possibility of mold not fitting) turns me off =(

fit is the blessing and the bane of custom IEMs - theres NO getting around that. i consider myself mitey lucky to have a good fit 1st around but its also due to a bit of research to understand what info is critical before going for the impressions.
i dont know where the impression that Livewires have weak bass comes from and i cant speak for anyone else but via my tomahawk, bass on my Livewires is thumping. not stupendous nor violently overwhelming mind u but its there in spades and very defined & articulate to my ears. Livewires are NOT basshead cans for sure but instead i find it very balanced with a great sense of soundstage (much in the vein of a HD600). i prefered it over a shure E500 i hear albeit for only 20mins or so. if theres any criticism on my part, i do find the mids (vocals in particular) isnt as forward as i'd like but thats only due to my own preferences as theres definetly no issues technically. |

Agreed to description of overarching importance of fit.
Agreed to bass being quite balanced with RSA Amps. It's not so strong though on amps with less bass (e.g. Meier Headsix - still there but not as fat - some might describe the - relatively - thinner bass as being bass shy I guess?) Surprised you find mids not as forward as you like when RSA amps are noted for more forward midrange/vocals. I find them forward enough with all the RSA amps and Livewires. Just shows our different preferences with the same equipment ![]() |
