Livewires - California Dreamin' - Page 145

OK I got impressions made, $45 AUD. Not happy with them though, so getting more made next week. Left ear was a little loose, right was a good tight fit. I just kept my mouth open for these, no bite block, and I moved my jaw around a bit.

Next time I'll have a bight block and keep my jaw in the correct position, where my ear holes feel biggest. I can tell where that is by putting in the impressions I have and moving my jaw until they feel loosest.

While there, they tested my ears. Perfect apparently. Heard below 5db at all frequencies they measures in both ears and the eardrum pressure testing machine gave perfect results, which is good news. She did say there is a patch deep in my right ear, just before the drum, that has the bone growing near the surface or something. She said people who swim in cold water get it, like surfers etc. Not sure what it's all about, will look into that more when I get more impressions made.

I did feel a bit sore in that spot when re-inserting my impressions (very carefully, I know you're not supposed to) later that day, maybe I need to have them looser in that little patch, which wouldl be easy to fix, just removing a little material from the IEM at that spot, if they even go that deep. I'll leave it a week and try fitting these impressions again to see if it's going to heal or something.

My etys never went that deep no matter how far I shoved them in so I never felt it before.

When I get my next set of impressions I'll send them off for some LW's, unless the new Freq's prove to be superior by then.

Now, for cables, a very friendly neighborhood head-fier directed me to this page for the connectors,

http://www.hubersuhner.com/hs-p-rf-con-gr-series-mcx50

but I'm not sure which ones they are specifically. If anyone can confirm the item number, I assume from this page, but I can't see many of the differences between them, can anyone discern the right ones, maybe from measurements or something?:

http://www.hubersuhner.com/products/...step=1&vt=1019

I'll get some and try some different cables for these.

I had a look at them and after having a go with the verniers i reckon its most likely the 4th one down 16-MCX-50-1-7/111_NH. Hopefully someone else here can double check before you buy a few hundred of them

I cant see as mine are filled in with paint (which is chipping ) but what does it say on the top of the connector?

I saw some words on the top of a livewire connector, and in that top link SK gave.

Can someone check and tell us what it says?

Alright I'm off to have my ears filled with silicone. I'm kinda scared guys. I've got my order form, which I have Red/Blue/Clear marked for colors (still not sure about that, but Mr. Diles said it was his favorite) and a check made out to EarPeace Technologies (first time I've ever written a check). Anything I'm forgetting?

still waiting

Well no livewires no fedex today.
Called back they we not even shipped to kentucky till yesterday.
After John told me I would have them today.
I think there customer service sucks.
Now they tell me they will ship directly from kentucky monday and i will have Wednesday, we will see.
Six weeks and counting.
last night I received Email from freq saying Music makers are out, I wish I would have waited.
Is it just my bad luck or are other people having problems?

1.) Well, either John or FedEx was wrong; we may never know.
2.) It's "their," not "there"
3.) From what I have read about all of the FreQ's line-up is that it's more of a dark sound compared to the Grado-like sound of the Livewires. A very recent post in the FreQ's thread says that the bass tends to overpower the mids at times, and a few other posts do say it is rather biased to the left of the sound spectrum.

Anyone else notice that the singers on American Idol have not been wearing there LiveWires lately? Wonder what's up with that, anyone know? I haven't talked to John in a while so I might give him a call next week and see what I can find out. Maybe they had fit problems, couldn't get use to them while performing, or just opted out after the month test period.

I notice some of the band members still wearing them through.

Hmmmm......kinda weird.

I was ready to drop $249 on these but the Freq Music Makers line looks tempting. If their similarly priced Tour de Freq edges out Livewires, I'm going to have to go with Livewire's competitor.

Aw PWN

I can so see that being the case now, by I worry that Freqs may be FOTM. Maybe wait a few more weeks till some more solid reviews are out?
Yeah, I'm waiting until solid reviews come out.
