Livewires - California Dreamin' - Page 134

Selling the TF10s cause I know I will predominantly using the LiveWires and ER4Ps, so what is the use of having a $300 earphone sitting gathering dust.

I have spent a huge sum of money over the past few months, and I am tryin to consolidate. I am purchasing a Pico soon, and with some of the money form selling stuff, I am looking at getting a APS cable for the ER4Ps.

I am happy with my LiveWires now

Just a note on the LiveWire's sensitivity!

MY GOD! - hvae them plugged into my work laptop headphone jack (IBM T61), and they are sensitive as nuts, have Winamp on about 20% volume, and the laptop on like 6 of 20. So yeah gosh - and this is with the 50ohm cable, the standard cable is just a no go!

I do know that the impdence cable may affect the sound, which is kind of sad

w00t Post number 2000 for this thread!

I might have been the first to sell my Triple.fi in favor of the Livewires, but you will be getting all the fame for doing it

haha HPA!

I notice you have a Pico with your basement rig, have you done a:

iMod -> Predator -> LiveWires
and iMod -> Pico -> LiveWires

What is better, as I am going to ge ta Pico to see which pairs well with the LiveWires.

Off-Topic: What version of LiveWires are we at - T1 or T2?

w00 currently got the iPod -> LiveWires (standard cable) (no EQ) wowowow! Happiness!

Only annoyance now is (on my part) is my source files have different volume levels, so one song will be quiet and I will put voluem up, them BAMAMA next song is loud! argh - anyone got any suggestions, for my 16,000 files that need to be audio normalized?

I know what you mean, although the difference in sound level is thankfully not too bad on my Clix2, so I haven't normalised my tracks.

I have MP3Gain which you can download from HERE. Apparently it doesn't decode and re-encode, or compress the file, the FAQ says:

"No. MP3Gain does not decode and re-encode the mp3 to change its volume. You can change the volume as many times as you want, and the mp3 will sound just as good (or just as bad!) as it did before you started."

I have doubts that it may degrade SQ, but this needs to be tested before you do all your files!

Kosmic after reading this thread now I really want the live-wires. So I might be a retuning to thank or dam you. Probably most likely hopefully thanking you. Right now its a toss-up on the live-wires and the UE Triple Fi 10. As far as I can tell if you get the impression done right they should be rather comfy. I have the UE Fi 3 and after some time they do get to me and the fact that my mother often take.. I mean borrows them from me. I find the live-wires to be the best choice. But I also do want the best and if I'm going to drop $300-$500 I don't want to miss out. Know what I mean?

Hi Cuba!

Get the impressions and fit right and Livewires are really comfortable. Not only that, but your mother won't be able to use them, and you'd be saving yourself a stack of money.

If you do choose Livewires, don't forget to buy your mother a large bunch of flowers!

I'll do that and thanks for this great thread!!!

It's a bit wider but I wouldn't say it's extremely different.

For example, listening to Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt, the TF10s lack some detail, with the LiveWires I can hear detail to the sound of fingers sliding, pages turning.

The LiveWires feel more real, as if I were there.

That is probably the best I can explain it atm.
Is the track in lossless? I have it in 256k mp3, just seeing if i can hear these details unamped through the hiss haha, then amped. The ER6i vs LW's

FMT glad to hear your latest batch of livewires is producing better results.

As others have already said they do take some time to get used to, it took my ears nearly a week before they got used to having something stuck all the way inside them. But its all worth it in the end for the amazing sq and comfort they provide.

I have one question, did you get a Std cable as well as the 50 ohm resister one, if so how does the sound differ between them.
I have both cables, the normal cable is much more clearer, but the 50ohm cable kinda sounds like someone put a drop cloth over all the microphones

You're welcome, it's the Livewires family that makes it great.

(Sigh) I'm sending my Livewires back for repair now.
The High driver of the right ear piece has just fallen off from the canal pipe on its own. Since I don't know how to open the piece to fix it, got no choice but to send them back for repairing T_T.

I hope this would be mended soon...... Life without it is so pale...

Does adding the Predator (or any amp) lift the drop cloth?

I had tried it with AMP. Still the normal is more clearer than 50 ohm ones.
The AMP I used is headsix.
