Livewires - California Dreamin' - Page 104

Sorry, but those quotes are not thread crapping, we are discussing livewires, amps etc. and if i want to tag on the end of one of my thank you posts after recieveing help and an invite to a team, a little "i love them" what is wrong with that. Its not like my any of my posts say just "i love them" and i post the same phrase over and over again. Also adding what i have found ou since i have got them is also not wrong, but maybe interesting and possibly hepful to people on the fence.

Saying that someone beat me to an answer is also not thread crapping, and explaining i should have refreshed the page is not wrong.

Asking for any suggestions for lossless music tracks to test with and without an amp, after a request for me to do so had been made is perfectly legitimate.

In reply to kosmic saying he hoped i loved them as much as they all did, i replied just, "i love them!" whats wrong with that? Just expressing in reply, that i do.

When talking about the faceplate colour change, explaining that i liked killkilis, and that it was just lighting at the time that made them that colour, i was upset they are making the blue darker is not wrong either, perfectly on topic, and permitable.

Saying "So a bigger, better result for Team Blue/Red/Black!" was just a bit of banter betweeen the "teams" and i did not believe was thread crapping, just a laugh.

Again, i am sorry for my response, but i personally felt you were complaining about times just to rubbish us as owners and the Livewires themselves, as many of the other Freq owners like to do.

Last of all i am not posting just to raise my post count, or annoy people, posting usless stuff, my posting is always on topic, and i believe i contribute to head-fi by giving sound (no pun intended!) advice to people when they request advice. I haven't been here for long, and have contributed alot in the reasonably small space of time. I dont have a posts "22.5 posts per day" etc. as i am busy frequently with school, and post mainly at the weekend, although when i do the quality of my posts is generally high in my oppinion.

Lets leave it at that.

Well, just to add a last comment. We all are earphones / headphones users, we all want to get the best out of our music, so i really dont believe there are anyone that would really talk "trash" about one company or another. It really depends on personal preference.

And also: some comments may seem useless to one person, while it may seem useful / a "reply" to another person. I take everything with a light heart, it just sometimes proves a person's maturity level.

lets get back to talk abt earphones

anyone here (i know off topic - so plz pm me) know much abt AKG 240's I am curious!
Well, I think AKG K240s got some characters very similar to Livewires, but the version of K240 varies greatly.
While K240DF got extreme resolution in treble & mid-high range, K240S has more bass and easier to drive.

I personally think highly of K240s, The K240 S(tudio) model in good enough.

But they do need a proper headphone amp to do with.
AMB mini3 is well enough I think.
(Similar level amps will do.)

LIVEWIRES...my story

After years of searching for the perfect In-Ear-Monitor, I finally came across the Livewires product... There is no need to search anymore.

My perfect headphone combines the attributes of:

-Balanced presentation throughout the upper, mid and lower frequencies
-Detailed and articulate...with sparkle
-Isolated Fit
-Quality Contruction
-Supportive Company (customer service)

At the end of 2007, I began reading all the postive posts for this product here in Head-Fi, and became intrigued with custom IEM's. So, on a trip out to the West Coast, I met up with John Diles at his Castro Valley office. For any who has met John, you know he is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people.

Upon taking Ear Impressions, at the Castro Valley office, my Livewires arrived to my door approximately 3.5 weeks later. John was upfront about this in saying that they had an influx of orders due to the holidays.

In receiving my Livewires, and plugging them into my iAudio 7...out of the box they sounded fantastic! Exactly the IEM I had been long seeking. All my FLAC ripped music sounded great, with amazing detail and clarity. Naturally, I was estatic!

The fit though...my Left Ear Monitor was a perfect fit, but my Right Monitor was just a little off. Couldn't get my Right Monitor to seal / insert adequately, thus the total isolation to this ear just was not on par.

I called John, and left a Voice Mail message, and received a call back within 2 hours. John fully understood my issue, and was more than happy to work with me to correct. He suggested I get another Right Ear Impression, so a new Right Monitor could be manufactured. I went to Scientific Hearing in NYC, took the impression, and mailed if off to John (along with my good Left Monitor for reference).

Upon mailing my new Impression, it took approximately 2 weeks to receive my Livewires back. Additionally, I received a courtesy telephone call from one of John's staff members (Sara ?) notifying me that my Livewires were on their way. I thought this was a nice touch!

Now, of course I have my Livewires in hand...and "everything" is perfect! The fit of both Ear Monitors, the Sound, the Isolation etc... They are simply wonderful IEM's! As a reference, my full-sized cans are AKG K701 and Beyerdynamic DT880 (to give you an idea of my appreciated sound preference).

As mentioned in my opening paragraph, I had been searching for years for the perfect IEM. Though a little difficult, here are some of my previously owned IEMS, with a ranking from best to last:

1. LIVEWIRES
2. Shure se310
3. Shure se530
4. Etymotic ER-4P
5. Utimate Ears Triple.Fi
6. Shure E4C
7. Utimate Ears Super.Fi 5
8. Shure se420
9. Denon C700 (due to fit issues)

Again, these intended rankings are based on the critera of what I desire in an IEM (stated above). I appreciated an accurate, natural sound with detail.

For anyone who is considering Livewires, do not hesitate in ordering them... They are well worth the cost ($249) and the wait. Also understand, that John does not manufacture the monitors at his office, he sends them off to his Lab...thus there is required shipping time in this step of the process.

Livewires are a great product, and I hope my little story is helpful to others. Should anyone have any questions, please do not hesitate to PM me

Dave

Kosmic, did your second pair turn up yet?
Im happy with mine, but i feel the isolation could be better.

How much do you guys lw's isolate?

I can hear people talking with music off, and only feel the suction feeling if i wiggle and push.

I wouldnt feel comfortable shooting with them in.

I cant live without them now though!

EDIT: Did sensa's seal test, track one is a constant bass and high sine, of which bass is quieter and less destinguishable, and high is louder, the alternate tones, bass is less distinguishable, but a can feel the rumble, the bass is much before the high note, i dont understand the table on the website, as the alternating tones have a gap between them, yet the table says it shouldnt "Both tones, clearly and at the same level" "Correct insertion, proper fit, and full earphone operation", which track do they mean?

Try it someone, please, and give me help/feedback.

Sensaphonics / Seal Test

Soon, Soon,

Just enjoying so much music at the moment. I'm really tempted to start playing around with other daps, amps etc etc.

My birthday's in a few months time, so I'll either get my Audi remapped, get a sat nav, or a dap/amp combo.

Decisions, decisions....meanwhile back to Planet Lounge - Road to Neptune, such a cool groove!
