Earpeace have their own custom faceplate design service...I just want to see one done.

I have a graphic design background but ended up specialising in paint finishes and murals for interior decoration (I've retired). When I see something that can be decorated my mind goes into overdrive.

So...some ideas for transforming the Livewires faceplate:

Woodgraining
Trompe l'oeil
Graphic Patterns

i'll try those settings. but for the most part i find that eqing doesn't really change the sound all that much unless u change it drastically, like yours.
also, i realise that turning down the 200hz region actually hurts the vocals and soundstage... this seems abit odd to me about the clix 2 cus for most other players the 200hz region doesn't really alter vocals. one thing about the clix 2's eq is that it's very dynamic, and and so the changes in sound isn't linear with each frequency adjustment. so changing a few settings at a go can actually change the sound completely. while this provides room for alot more customisation it's kinda irritating cus i can't seem to adjust to what i expect will turn out. i've been using the clix 2 for a month now and i still can't find what custom eq suits me best. often i just turn it back to normal or the rock preset..

sry if my post didn't include anything bout the livewires >.<

I would say that is a very astute analysis of The Clix2 EQ Athenaesword.

This is true but instead of being irritating for me it's kind of fun looking for the "sweet spot". There is enormous customisation possible...although you'd not think it possible. The "sweet spot" is definitely there but you have to search for it....and it may not be the settings you expect. Whether this is the nature of all EQ's I don't know, as I would never have come near EQ with a barge pole in the past.

I find there is a fine balancing act between the 200hz and 1k region. Lowering 200hz places the vocalist further away in the soundstage....the sound becomes thinner. Boosting this region brings the vocalist closer with a fuller sound but you have to watch for bloat if the 50hz region is high. I adjust the 3k and 14 k to remove veiling and give focus.

The great thing with the Livewires is "how low do you want to go?" I can boost the 50hz region to maximum without losing tight controlled bass. It just wants to go subsonic!

Does anyone know if getting the connection to the livewires wet from rain water, damage the earphone, or electricute the user lol

I can imagine, it would likely corrode the cable and/or connectors. Definitely no electrocution. It could possibly damage your earphones I'd suspect too.

...i'm waiting on mine to arrive this week...

from what the pictures show...the face plates are covered in acrylic so if you painted them, you probably will need to "sand a bit to get a surface for the paint to adhere to as well as sealing them when you're finished.

I've been thinking about this myself.

The black looks Oh, so boring. I talked to them briefly about using a decal of say, Carbon Fibre before they glued the face to the body and sealed it up. Art was kinda no committal but willing to look into it.

Maybe we should do a livewires Decor thread?

I cant wit to get mine! Still struggeling to get an audiologist appointment booked with the cheapest audiologist, as after school the shops shut, and they all seem to only work one day a week at the places i want to go to!

I dont know when mine works at which shop yet, i cant wait to get them done though!

Erm, well i was off last week so not for a while. Xmas i guess

Yeah i cant wait to hear them.

I had CX300's (muddy bass noticed after using them 9hrs+ a day oh holiday) so i came here when back home, and thought i hated bass, so got er6i's, but they are far too lean. I think i like bass, but had a bad experiance, so i seek good, sparkling highs, deep lows, and bass which is clear, depicted etc.
I think the Livewires are in the middle ( I hope! )

After xmas, my soundcard will have arrived, and i can connect my pc's case jacks (2) i will buy some LW sounding headphones for pc use, if i like the Livewire sound sig, as i will have more to base what i like on then.

Music speaker rig will be:
Asonic 87868 -> Labtec 2.1 speakers (Sub too)

My headphone/earphone rig will be:
Asonic 8768 -> Case jacks (buffered by soundcard) -> LW's / Headphones.

My portable rig will be:
Zen Vision M -> LW's as they are good unamped i have read.

I am getting a camera for Xmas (Starting amatuer photography) to snap a picture of my completed rigs (Xmas Money), and the desk and headphone stand i am going to DIY (Xmas money). Oh and hopefully i will get a 20" iiyama lcd screen to view the pics on from my mum for xmas! I also need a 500gb disk too! (Xmas money)

I cant wait!
Btw let me know if you "Pimp" your LW's!

I just ordered some Livewires today, and due to extenuating circumstances I needed them by the 9th of November, and they claim they will be able to deliver. I hope to post my impressions of the 'phones soon after. I would like to say how impressed I am with the customer service thus far, though. Communication has been excellent, and they seem more than willing to cater to my needs.

Is it real or is it....Livewires?

John Etheridge was playing at the Vortex, London, on Saturday, and I had tickets booked for a great table about fifteen feet away.

He played a classic Pat Metheny number called "James" which I am really familiar with. As I sat listening I was thinking about how we gauge, and define what we feel is good or bad about a headphone.

What yardstick do people employ to say a headphone is good or bad? Unless you listen to live music what are you comparing, or making your judgement upon?

Anyway...it was a fleeting thought as I enjoyed amazing guitar playing. I have to say again...Livewires are brilliant!
