Livewires - California Dreamin' - Page 98

I have used mine for probably 12hrs now, Love them, they are ety's with bass, and no anylitical-ly-ness.

Lossless vs Lossy, amped, Jackson, I cant tell the difference! Yay, no need for a 2,000,000gb collection, and months of reripping and d/l'ing!

I tried this, decided to goto LiveWires today, still not as impressed, I am becoming more certein it's a mix of dud component and poor seal, as the low end is as fantastic as I hoped, woulda expected it be better than the SF5's.

But yeah, my audiologist is going to 'analyse' them next week and I'l lsee what she says.

I realised I did my impressions Open Jaw, so everytime I have LiveWires on, I am usually always closed mouth when I listen to music, but when I open my jaw, the SQ seems to improve. Also, they don't go in as deep as I expected, I compared my snout with some pics through SBD's thread (great work btw mate) and my snout is quite short:

If anything, you should get a better seal when you close your mouth.

When you did your impressions, did you move your head / face / mouth at all? It's best if you keep perfectly still during the hardening process for 10 mins.

FMT,

The impression is taken to the second bend in your canal, everyones ears are different but make sure this was done.

I thought you were going to have new impressions made? Don't mess around...go and get them redone!

I sat still, but did open jaw once or twice as I read in a few threads that this would have helped.

When/if I get new impressions, I am going closed mouth, in a natural position, so just pretend as I normally listen. I want the earphones to fit me when I am in a natural position!

Kosmic: getting the new ones on Monday, it's the earliest available appointment!

I take that back. Just looked at mine from the same angle as your photo's, and they look pretty similar in length.

Thing is I don't feel them in enough to develop a seal, like if I push them, they go in deeper - safely, not huring, actually more comfy, creating a better seal which really brings out the low end, but then once I let go it pops out, and loses it's nice low end and yeah.

It's the seal - it's not good, here is a good seal:

Lol!

The general consensus seems to be open mouth impressions give the best seal. I did mine relaxed, closed but with my teeth not touching. The resulting fit is not bad at all.

My second set of impressions I took with a bite block between my molars, not my front teeth, and I kept very still while drooling. It will be interesting to see how the seal turns out with my second set.

Just don't move while the silicone sets, or try to talk!
