Variable power wall wart

post #1 of 3

Hi All;

I have a number of MD, CD, amps etc that all take a wall wart. Different power needs, different plug ins.

Is a wall wart with adjustible power output and different plug is a reliable altenative to the various bricks I now cart around?

I would mainly use the wall wart to charge the gumstick battery in CD and Md players. Would like to find something that would run my little STAX SRM-001, as it eats batteries, but assume I'd get better sound from batteries.

I'm in canada, so would prefer something i could pick up locally at radio Shack or Futureshop.

thanks for your help.

Ugggh.. Future Shop.. :P

Anyhow, Radio Shack sells a regulated, filtered 800mAh 3-12v AC adapter for $15.99 (in the US). Catalog #: 273-1667. You can then buy any Adaptaplugs to fit your components..

It's huge, though.. so you might want to take that into consideration.

Be careful with the variable wall wart. I bought one and it killed some of my equipment, like my really old sony PCDP. Watch out for polarity of the plug too. If you adjust the polarity the wrong way, you might let some of the magic smoke out.
