Intermittent "popping" noise while playing music

No matter what player I use (foobar or winamp) or file types (wma lossless, FLAC, mp3, hell even CDs!), I have this (singular) "pop" noise that occurs every 2-5 minutes. It's not very noticeable in most genres etc. but is incredibly aggravating for classical and jazz!

The problem doesn't seem limited to either of my hard drives (one laptop internal, the other a notebook external) nor the type of outputs (headphone jack on computer, or sadly, through the headphone out of my D1 which is plugged in through USB) or headphones.

I didn't notice this on my desktop back home, could it just be this particular laptop? Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is your laptop connected to the internet using wireless?

I've found that wireless connections interfere with a lot of USB audio devices. Try disabling your wireless card, and see if this still happens.

Well, my laptop wasn't connected to a wireless network since there's none in my dorm, but I decided nonetheless to switch off the card...

Thank God I did, the pops are gone! Thank you for the wonderful suggestion cclragnarok!

No problem.

Fortunately, you don't have to use wireless to connect to the internet. If you ever need to use wireless and USB audio at the same time, here are some USB sound cards I've tried (since it seems that our wireless cards cause the same problem):

M-Audio Transit: Same problem.

EMU 0404 USB: Same problem. Even though the ASIO buffer was quite large when I set it to max.

Apogee Mini-DAC: Something similar happened a few times, but not regularly, and not often enough to really bother me. Since the pattern is different, the cause might have been different.

Musiland MD10: No problem at all. I had trouble using ASIO4ALL unless I disable all other soundcards, but that's just a minor issue. I'm guessing other devices using the same USB receiver chip (PCM2704) would also work well. These devices include several other Diyeden/Musiland DACs, Trends UD-10 transport, some Stello DACs, and Corda Opera.
