Question about M-audio sonica

For all of you sonica owners:
Can the M-audio sonica output to 5.1 channel speakers or do I need the sonica theater? I currently have a laptop and I want to set up my 5.1 surround sound.

Sonica can only do 5.1 via optical out so you'll need an external decoder. If you want an analogue 5.1 connection, you'll need the Sonica Theater.
