Klipsch Custom Series Earphones - Page 8

Ok,

I thought the Custom 3 was the top of the line. But the pricing would suggest that the IMAGE is the their best offering. What am I missing?

Any idea if all the offers (free shipping, etc.) apply for Canadians?

I was considering picking up the custom one, but at the discounted price the custom 2 look like my next purchase =)

I'm not completely sold yet, I'm usually not one to adopt first gen products off the bat, for fear of build quality issues. Customs duties put a damper on my purchase plans too -_-

Are there pictures of anyone wearing them yet? They don't look like they would stick out too much, but I would appreciate the option of lying down while using them.

So I think not.

I have family in the States, so that won't be a problem anyways =P

I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on this, anyone else planning on ordering or already ordered?

The Custom-3 is still the flagship in sound quality, but the IMAGE's pricing comes from the fact that it's so small in design and provides sound quality that is close to the Custom-3.

On another note, you can check out Klipsch's new website dedicated to their new line-up of headphones here. The packaging and marketing looks pretty sleek and professional, IMO.

how can you be so sure the custom 3 is the flagship, i know dat klipsch girl said that she prefers the custom 3 sound but that is her personal preference and its like saying the er4p are better than shure se420, its preference even tho the 420 cost more (which suggests it should be better)

hmm. Interesting. Maybe I should hold that order on MS1s........

jinx,

No. It's like saying that the SE530 are better than the SE420.

It's quite interesting for Klipsch to price the single-driver IMAGE above the rest of the Custom-X series. If you refer back to the OP, the IMAGE is regarded as a mid-range PM.

I also wonder if Klipsch got help in developing these IEMs since they're fairly new to the game. It's like Westone helping Shure with the R&D pre-2001. If anything, the IMAGE resemble Etymotics.

I am all about comfort.

For me, the IMAGE really looks nice!

Is there anyone who has bought them yet? Or any reviews around?

The designer of these IEMs himself put the Custom-3 at the top of the chain in sound quality (I think I quoted him in the original post). It seemed if most if not all of the people who have heard them (some Klipsch fans on their forums) agree that the Custom-3 is the best sounding of all the new models.

Other hints can be found on the website. Compare these descriptions:

IMAGE: World's smallest and lightest full-range in-ear headphone design
Custom-3: An excellent choice for musicians and critical listeners

etc. etc.

I like the Custom 3 better than the IMAGE. The latter is a bit too long, in my opinion, while I find the Custom3 really beautiful.

The IMAGE seems to be the most expensive to produce because they're small. The designer of these felt that the Custom-3 sounded so good that they should "raise the price to $499" (jokingly).

I think they actually designed them themselves from the ground up. The IMAGE does resemble Etymotics, but I guess you can't patent the shape of the design.

Why would the take a ~16 year old design for the Image? (ETY)

They could have kept it small but easily tweaked it to perhaps to go easily around the ear. .
