I don't know how many I speak for, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of Patrick's posts. He might be a troll but I love him anyways.

Guys, I do not recommend removing stock groundings because it's intended by the manufacturer. I said about the situations when audio "tuners" convince you to replace the 2-pin mains wiring for 3-pin connector which makes no sense in class 2 device (no grounding allowed) but allows music flow thru the wall. I just pointed fake improvements but not recommend neglecting stock grounding.
Regarding balanced systems - I have no experience but in this case power cord meaing is twice that questionable.

Since I don't have any friends I reply to myself instead. A few years I ago I was using 3 computers and chatted to myself with them. But now the other two computers are broken so I entered a forum so I can reply to my own posts instead.

I don't see anything wrong with replying to my own posts. It's easier for people to know what I'm talking about since I'm writing about both the power cord and interconnect in this thread. My latest quotes weren't even from this thread but it fit here better because I posted this thread in another forum and they deleted it.

haha.

patrick. you are such a clown sometimes.

but seriously. anyone that makes fun of patrick is a jerk, plain and simple. he may be a bit eccentric but he is hardcore into audio and has probably done more experiments and tweaks than almost everyone here.

Wow, it's a great combination for 192 kbps mp3. A few months ago when my computer was tweaked with Magix levitation feet and ERS Paper I couldn't listen to mp3 anymore because the difference between mp3 and WAV was bigger. With mp3 the music smeared together but with WAV it was clean.

But now without any tweaks I get edginess that compensates for the smearing of mp3. I can listen to mp3 again! But instead of it sounding too thin, it sounds heavy from the fat Valhalla power cord.

thats the spirit patrick , spend a ******** on cables and magic feet so you can play mp3 on a pc.

why not spend the money on the actual cds and you wont have this problem ?

do you mind if i upload a disk with an iso file on for you to burn as a little test.

i want you to tell me which file is a wav and which has been converted to mp3 and back again..

Because I'm too poor to buy CDs if the improvement is smaller than a tweak.

patrick

its on its way...

1 rar file containing a nero image audio cd file.

once burnt as cd it will contain 4x seperate songs of roughly 1 minute in length.
Each song has 2 versions, one version is a direct to wav rip using soundforge.
the other is a high quality VBR mp3 file of the same wav file and then converted back to wav.

you can cheat by looking at the actual waveform but that wouldnt be very sporty of you would it

I know the order of the MP3 and WAV files so all you need to do is name which tracks are mp3 and which are wav.

ok its uploaded . good luck

:P

Not to disparage anyone, but I am always a little wary of those types of tests on the internet because it's possible to cheat if you look at the waveforms instead of listening.

I'm listening to them now and the sound quality is horrible compared to my trance mp3's, everything blends together, it sounds like all tracks are 128kbps mp3. They sound the same to me, the sound signature is the same, if they sound any different then it's a much smaller difference than a tweak.

The decay is cut off from track3, so I would be surprised if it was wav. Track2 also has detail problems. Track5 sounded very muddy and too warm. Track 7 and 8 are unbearable. The complex passages at 1.18 are too blurry with track7.

I need more time to get used to these songs to answer accurately enough. But here are my guesses after 15 minutes:

wav
Track1
Track4
Track6
Track8

mp3
Track2
Track3
Track5
Track7
