Yep. Unsubscribe me, por favor. The end of an era.

this site has officially died. Come on, ads in threads, that is just pathetic.

you've been here for less than 2 months. yes. the good old days of Aug. 2007. those were the times.

Where are these ads you're talking about?
I saw them at work earlier when I was not logged on. Here at home I am logged into the site and do not see them.
Logged out and saw them...logged back on and they are gone. Pretty funny that there is an ad right after the first post in this thread.

Well there is cost to maintain such a site (bandwidth and service). I mean I really don't mind ads on threads since the forum is free and majority of the users here are using this forum for free anyways.

I don't see them either, I think it's because we (Toonie and I) both have contributed to the site.

I see 'em when I'm logged in as well. I thought initially it might be a bug but looks like it's here to stay. I do find that these in-thread ads make reading through a thread quickly more difficult and I can honestly say that I'm rarely moved to find out more about, say, the AKG 601's class-leading, cutting-edge blah blah blah.

In fact, they're distracting enough that whatever product the ad is for seems to leap immediately onto the ever-present scrolling "DON'T BUY -- NEVER EVER EVER BUY!!!" list in my head along with audio cables worn as jewelery by half-naked models and any cologne linked to a football player. Counterproductive? Perhaps.

Heh

Edit -

Like Orkney says its hardly great advertising and teamed with the fact Audiophiles don't succumb to advertising. You don't spend $500 due to a fancy ad.

You're kidding right? Audiophiles don't succumb to advertising? ROFL

Anyway, headfi isn't putting the ads there to sell you stuff, they're putting the ads there to pay for the site. Contribute, and you don't see them.

much better.

If it brings in more funds for headfi, I have no issues with it.
