Denon D2000 Loose Screw Poll

So I'm considering buying the Denon D2000s, but I'm curious how widespread the loose screw problem has been. It seems like it's happened to a number of people but not to everybody who owns these. So if you could vote for what your experience has been that would be very helpful. If you haven't owned these, obviously don't vote, but feel free to discuss.

Edit: I hope I'm not repeating any threads, but the search function appears to be down right now (at least for me).

Before I bought my HD595s (and exchanged them for the HD650s) I was also reading up on the D2000s. Just wanted to say that I was on the verge of buying them until the loose screw issue came across my attention. It seems that its not a huge deal to some people, and the fix is relatively painless, but for the amount of money spent one would expect that the build quality would not be one of the flaws of the headphones.

At any rate, my plan was to wait a few months down the road or until an official fix was announced by Denon before considering purchasing them. The D2000s seem like they would be a good complement to the HD650s.

I got mine in August and I am not convinced that the screws are tight enough, but nothing has fallen off yet. I am still extremely careful with them, I would say my biggest complaint with the D2000's is the build quality.

On a more serious note..... I love these babies.

if you love them now, have them recabled (Moonaudio or A Pure Sound or RAL) and then you will really fall in love. when you have them out for recabling ask them to check/tighten any screw issues they might find with the headphones apart. Drew at Moonaudio did mine and found no screw issues at all with the hps fully apart when he had them.

I got mine 2nd hand here on the HeadFi classifieds, so they are pre_August 2007. The screws seem like they might not be very tight, but hav not yet fallen out. Next cold rainy day I will look into taking the earcups off and locktite the screws into place.

Wow, this almost makes me think there isn't any problem with the screws. But for the two people who commented that the screws seem loose but nothing's fallen apart yet, I would consider those loose screws.

I have had two, one from the first and another from the latter batch. Haven't had any issues with any. But even if I do, taken pads off to reach that screw is so simple that 5-year old kid can do that.

Had mine for almost 3 months now and they are still doing fine.

Good thought on doing this poll!

As with most subjects, it is the problems that get posted, whereas the silence is usually the majority, IMHO

This is so true and at the same time a bit sad.

I got mine last spring, but I agree with everything else that was said above.

Agreed -- I wonder just how many peeps have turned away from a great can, because of worry about a possible loose screw?

I thought everybody that bought the D2000 had a screw loose... oh sorry, I didn't read the poll correctly

Where are all the people who were complaining about this a month or so ago?
I got mine 3 weeks ago and both of the earcups have fell off on me.

Pretty easy to repair once you know how to put them back together. But if you lose the few little washers and springs inside, then you're screwed.

(no pun intended )
