amp or new subwoofer

Currently I'm using the Cambridge Soundworks DTT 2500 speakers with my ONKYO receiver as I'm on a budget and they seem to be doing fine. Problem is the subwoofer that came with this speaker set is non-powered so it won't work with this receiver unless I get an amp for it. What I'm wondering is is it worth it to get an amp just to power the subwoofer or should I get a new subwoofer? What are the benefits and cons of each, if any?

The benefit of buying a power amplifier is that you can use it to drive your speakers once you're done with the subwoofer (assuming your receiver has preamplifier outputs).

The negative is that you'll probably have to pay a more for the power amplifier than the subwoofer is worth.

I'd say, buy a new subwoofer... Almost anything will do.

I have a sub for sale (see sig) if you're still interested.
