Help me choose my next Rush album: - Page 2

Owning all the albums and seeing them 7 times over the last 20 years - you can't go wrong with ANY of them (except "Live in Rio"...) :-)

One of my favorites (and this is tough) is "Different Stages" (one of their best SOUNDING Live albums and a great mix of songs.

Also, their first 2 albums, RUSH and FLY BY NIGHT are some of my favs as well as Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures and Farewell to Kings are all tops.

Of the "newer" stuff I really like a lot from Counter Parts and Presto.

Let us know how things go for you...they are, in my humble opinion, one of THE most underrated and under appreciated bands of the modern era.

Good luck-
Sproles

As everybody else said, I'd recommend Signals, PW, Snakes and Arrows (newest album), Counterparts, and Fly By Night.

2112, FbN, and PW are my favorite albums.

Hold Your Fire is looked down upon?

I lost interest in Rush after Roll The Bones.

Hemispheres & Permanent Waves definitely.

I also think Hold Your Fire and Grace Under Pressure are underrated

Permanent Waves came out right before Moving Pictures and is very solid. MoFi did a nice remaster of it; I think that it's still available. Signals is probably my favorite album from their 80s synthesizer days; I absolutely love the song "Subdivisions." Roll the Bones is a strong 90s era album with quite a few rocking numbers.

On a side note, if you ever get a chance to see them in concert, it's worth shelling out the cash. I've seen them three times and it keeps getting better each time.

Just out of curiosity, since you've heard all their albums, which ones are your favorites?

I've heard almost all of them except for the ones since Test for Echo. I just have a hard time getting into their albums after that.

Get this

And choose for yourself. It has 2-3 songs from each album in chronological order.

I didn't "get" Rush at first. I really disliked Geddy's voice. Then I went to a laserium show featuring Grace Under Pressure. That fixed it for me.
