Celibedache and the Stuttgart Symphony's version of the 4th is my absolute favorite.

Celibedache did not believe in recording,music is an experience of the moment,he said.

And also his choice of tempo had to do with the acoustics of the hall he was performing in,and therefore could be very different.

But thank god that somebody preserved those Radio Broadcasts from Stuttgart.

This is also a great set, but I would image that this comes with the giant DG set of Brahms mentioned earlier in this thread.
