MDR7506 pads have seen better days

I've finally killed them.

There is not one piece of leatherette larger than a thumbtack on there. It's about time for some new Pads, eh?

Browsing the forums and googling has only shown me two options. Replacement factory pads (yuck) or these.

Problem is, I've grown tired of the black. It's time for something new. If there is such a thing, can someone point me to some anything-but-black pads that'll fit my MDR 7506s?

(It will be hard losing these pads, they've been on my ears since I was 14 years old. Picking at them the other day I pulled out a hair from my not-so-recently deceased childhood dog . ...But they're starting to gross me out. )

Hi and welcome to Head-Fi!

I've been looking at the V6/7506 for a while myself with the idea of swapping the pads eventually, and unfortunately those are the only pads I can recall seeing that are an easy swap. There may be more and it may be fun doing a forum search for them at that. Apparently you've had good service from your cans for a number of years! Cool!

If nothing else I'll bump this back to the top of the forum and let someone who may have a better answer get a shot at it.

You can also replace the earpads of the V6 and 7506 with Beyer DT250 velour earpads.

The Beyer pads take the comfort of the 7506s to a whole new level. I remember doing this ages ago.

Sorry I should've made it clearer, yes I've already seen the Beyer pads, I actually linked them in my first post. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to go about getting some in "anything-but-black".

I was thinking that maybe I could even have some custom made for fairly cheap, just mail someone the old pads and they could stitch me some new ones in whatever color I wanted. I don't what profession would be capable of doing this (a seamstress maybe?) Just looking for something original I guess

I know someone who can make you custom pads, if you're serious about that. PM me for details if you are.

The dt250 pads only come in black.

Well, I spent about 45 minutes today taking apart/cleaning the drivers.

I'm only going to post after photos, because, well, they were effin' disgusting inside. Think, 6 years of... yuck. I had to break out a brush on the plastic bits. I also VERY VERY VERY carefully pulled stuff (Mostly glue/foam) out from behind the metal grill.

This weekend (or next) I'm going to try and get in touch with someone local to go about custom making new pads for me.

What materials would be good to use? The foam on these is absolutely flattened, and a bit torn up actually, so I'll probably be replacing that too.
