HD595 or HD555 sound good?

That said I do think they could be better (non-music) PC phones (if that sort of comfort suits you; I prefer the grado feel over any sort of clamping, even slightly)

BTW: I'll gladly trade my nearly unused A900 for your SR225 (if they are in good condition)

You can see what I've got. The A900s would be the best for gaming, but they are fairly bulky, ultra comfy however.


They both have 10ft/3M leads, they are quite thin. The 595s have a 1/4" plug which would need an adapter or a new plug put on.

The 595s come with a nifty 'holder':

You know, as much as I prefer my Grados, the HD595s don't feel as bulky. Not trying to disparage Grados in any way, but their fit always seems a little clumsy to me.

I just got a used pair of 595s and have decided that I'm definitely in the Grado camp, if one had to choose. I'll turn to my SR-60s even, because they seem to make the music so much more fun. However, that said, the 595s still sound great of course, and are really, really comfortable. They have a solid fit that doesn't seem bulky or clamped and are quite light. Of course, consider that the ones I'm using are, in turn, used, and so may be broken in a bit. Regardless, I think you'd be happy with them.

i have the PK-2 and the 225s and just telling you, prepare for a HUGE hit in SQ. Even though I like the PK-2 for portable use, it doesnt catch up to the 225s at all. but good news, they have a similar sound signature!

Just wondering, do other cans have identifying marks on them? Like Senns have little raised dots on the left can, so you don't put them on backwards in the dark.

If you dont want big and bulky for the computer get PX100s, IGrados, or PortaPros, they have short cords and are great value for money.

Im afraid anything with serious SQ will have a 1/4 cord and be big, not suited for computer use. The Grados are on the smaller end of things compared to AT or the 595s.

If you can find them used, and again SQ isnt really an issue, the old bose triports are my computer headphones, and are great for computer use. Their closed, extreamly comfortable, and have a mini plug. Unfortunatly there about 100$ overpriced, but if you can get them for around 30-50 i would take them over the koss/senn/grados above just for their comfort.

I don't like the feeling of the Grado SR-225. I know I've been told they aren't comfortable but it isn't that. They just have this very clumsy fit on my head. I heard that the HD595 clamps a little bit and I hoping thats what I am looking for. The HD595 are supposed to be good for games, computer and movies right? Or maybe I'll get the ATH-A900 but I'm not sure if it is worth that extra $20. I'll keep my Grado 1/4 to 1/8 adapter so I can attach it to my HD595. I like the Grados but to me they aren't very warm.

I suggest finding a used set of HD580s. I've seen them around $120.
