duheed, what I don't get is how you came up with the beyer 880s with your type of music. Rap and Hip Hop are not really the 880s cup of tea.

karma, I think i might need to get the 580s or 600s again to listen to the punchy bass you talk about because i didn't really have a good amp when I had my 580s and the bass wasn't any good. Not as punchy and defined as the 595s unamped

The headphones are terminated in 1/8" and come with a 1/4" adapter.

I cannot comment on the performance of the 580/6x0s unamped as I have only used them with an amp. Based on what I have read, these do need good amping in order for them to really shine.

donunus all this time uve been giving me info yet u mixed up my music tastes, never in this thread have i said i listen to rap and hip hop, i said a BIT OF RAP/r&b but that makes up like not even 2% of my music. Im all trance, house, DRUM AND F'N BASS, breaks, chill out/ ambient.

Ive heard sum say that these are as good or even better as 650's
there is no way these headphones can approach the HD-650 in a good system, in some cases where the 650 is being crippled by crappy gear the DT880/990 may be better, IMHO there is no comparison when it comes to scaling, the Senn HD650 dominate the Beyers.

I got your musical taste in the other thread. Anyway, yeah I haven't really heard people make the dt880 the preferred headphone for drum and bass, chillout, trance, etc... I just generalized your taste to music that is not acoustic or those that use samples/or electronic instruments

I heard the 880s both 250 and 600 ohm. I prefer the 600 ohm version. smoother, less harsh sounding... more controlled.

I heard the 990@250ohm. I prefer it to 880@250ohm. To me, 880@250ohm sounds bland, almost too clinical to enjoy my music. Lacking in excitement. I like abit of fun in my music so I recommend 880 (600ohm) or 990s .

I wish this thread has been bumped earlier. This guy is in the exact same position as me right now
