The Pacemaker

Things confirmed via their site and emails to them: It has digital out, through the line-out jack, via coaxial.

Not to mention its line-out is supposed to be a real line out.

And since it's meant as a dj'ing tool, I think it has an EQ.

It does have a 120gig HDD (maybe they'll up it to 160gigs?), and it does cost 520 euros, but it sounds promising.

Read there. It really sounds amazing, it sounds perfect for everyone here that doesn't mind a little bulk.

520 euros?! I can buy a new laptop for that price.

Nice find, OX!

Just added it to the PCDPs & DAPs w/Digital Output Listing.

It's not too, too big and even supports AAC (but sadly not Apple Lossless, so I'd have to re-rip into FLAC). Hopefully, some well-off soul will pony-up and test it against the iMod/V-cap.

Not re-rip, just use foobar or dbpoweramp to re-encode to FLAC. Both are lossless, so nothing is lost.

I am going to try this and the Cowon Q5, and decide which is for me. Video isn't that important to me, thus why I'm not going ZOMG Q5.

I don't know, I haven't used OS X in years. Why are you using one? (I'm just curious.)

Yeah, I just don't know how I'm going to do it. I'm trying to find out when/if Pacemaker and Cowon are doing trade shows around NYC. I suppose I could go to B&H in NYC to try out the Q5, when it comes out, though.

Wow!!! This thing looks really interesting. This could end up being a very cool device when it is released. I'll be looking forward to seeing what this thing can do.

I meant OS X being the operating system of my MacBook. Well, for the most part, I really like it and I'm not going back to Windows.

Bump because this thing is perfect for us and needs more recognition.

its awesome, but too expensive!
I don't think the price is too high if it's as good as it appears. I also like their choice of doing digital over coaxial rather than optical. I can see it being good to take out on the go and then come back to home/work and hook it up to an external DAC/amp combo. I'm not going to be an early adopter but if it turns out as good as it seems I can see myself picking one up a little later.

But I wouldn't call the h-140 awesome, apart from the optical lineout.

well its awesome because of the optical out, but yea, theres nothing that special except that.

I'm just saying that we dont know how it sounds yet and if its just an above average sounding player with a digital out, the iriver is cheaper in that respect, but if its an amazing sounding player with digital out, then I'm in!
