LOL, I wish it were as easy as that.

The difference reminds me (in a very superficial way) the so-called differences between (the so-called "british-sounding" and "american-sounding" speakers. Or what Harry Pearson used to call Yin vs. Yang sound. Or...
Neither were objectively better or worse than the other. It really comes down to listener's personal experience, the software, the source, etc. And as one gains experience, one's perceptions can change. The "stuff" teaches you, if you know what I mean.
For example, to an inexperienced (but involved) listener, an up-front highly colored presentation may sound incredible. But, given time and experience, the listener may find that all recordings tend to have the same up-front, colored presentation, but different equipment may allow stuff like inner-detail, timber, etc to present themselves more accurately.
Many times very good stuff can initially sound rather lackluster. But, as your ears/brain adapt, you perceive much much more. (Your eyes take about 20 minutes to adapt to low light conditions. Your ears also adapt.) So, while warming up the equipment, make sure you warm yourself up too!

In my case, the weak link is definately the diy LOD. I just ordered an ALO LOD (jumbo cyro). We'll see what happens in a few days.
