Overall the system is very warm. Speed, detail and resolution would be a great thing to add. Then, how to choose a cable?

I'm quite happy being the opposite of Patrick! But the truth doesn't always lie halfway between two opposing viewpoints.

Using a $50 cable to connect a $90 amp and an iPod shuffle is silly. Spend your money on an iPod classic with a pocket dock. That will give you a heck of a lot more bang for the buck.

Putting a fancy cable on a modest portable setup is like putting Cadillac hubcaps on a Yugo. You might be able to afford it, but it isn't going to improve the ride any.

I have to agree with the above. Currently I am using a Revelation Audio 99.999 pure Cryo Silver, it set me back about $80 which in todays market is not such a high price.

However before I purchased it I already had a 4th Gen iModded iPod Photo and an SR71 as well as a LaRocco PRII MkII. My cans were K501, K701, etc. I wanted speed and clearer top end so after various IC I chose silver as implemented by Revelation Audio.

If I had a basic system then I would use cheaper cables.

I have the 6inch RAL Cryo Silver cable that mrarroyo recommends and to me it's definitely worth the $89.
