Screwed on eBay Feedback

i bought a video game from a seller a few weeks ago. when i received it, there was a sticker on the case saying that the item was refurbished. there was no mention of this in the ad. i contacted the seller. never got a response. the game works fine but i was a little annoyed. my bid was for a used game not a refurbished one, so i left a neutral response for the transaction. today, i check my ebay page and i got a negative. the seller of this auction left it. he said "buyer was unreasonable."

WTF?!?!?

i was so pissed. the feedback system on ebay is garbage.

I've held my tongue as far as feedback goes on more than one occasion, to ensure I maintain my 100% positive.

That's why I don't use ebay, too much BS.

I have the same case as yours.I don't have a 100% feedback in ebay. The only negative feedback I received is a retaliation for my negative feedback. Well, I don't give a $hit.

edit: btw you can make the life of the seller's harder by making complain via paypal.

It should be common knowledge to all head-fiers that if you leave anything besides a positive, you can expect a negative in retaliation.

On my only bad transaction, didn't leave feedback until 89 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes, and left a negative. The cut off date for feedbacks was 90 days at that time. My profile has remained unscathed.

I have a similar experience. I had bought two multi CD boxsets from a seller and after the auction was over asked if I could have a discount on the shipping rates, since sending the two boxsets together likely would not cost as much as sending them seperately. I had lost an auction on another, and the seller said that the only way he would offer a discount would be if I purchased an additional copy of the boxset I had lost. I was unhappy with that response, so when I got the boxsets I left a neutral explaining his offer, saying that I felt it was unfair. He retaliated with a negative saying I tried to change the deal after the auction ended. Of course I didn't, and if the seller had responded with a degree of kindness rather than with his mercenary-like tone, I likely would have cheerfully sent him the full requested shipping price.

I can understand that sellers will often get deadbeats trying to worm their way out of paying fair shipping prices, etc., but I don't feel my request was unreasonable, and I don't feel his retaliation was warranted.

Personally, I think the positive rating system is profoundly overused, and you should only give out a positive if the seller or buyer goes out of their way to do something special. If all you did was send the correct payment on time, and they sent the correct item on time, that ought to rate a neutral. You did what you said you would do.

Complaining via paypal does make it a huge pain...but seriously think about it before you do. Someone complained against me so I have a negative balance... I wouldn't want that to happen to someone else. But, at the same time, if you really feel that he shafted you that much, I can't stop you from opening up a dispute/claim.

sorry to hear that.

i had worse. i bought this item from this seller. i paid immediately, waited 2 weeks, and never received anything. i contacted the seller 3-4 times and got no response. so i gave him a negative feedback on that and all of sudden this guy came back alive and gave me a negative feedback as well, saying that i got the item. i contacted ebay and paypal about it but nothing has been resolved.

Same here.

It really sucks but sometimes it's better to just leave a positive feedback and move on.

it was refurbished and used. regardless, the item was listed as used and i got one marked refurbished. that's not what i bargained for. i felt the listing was not entirely accurate. so i left a neutral. and in return i get a neg.

so many bad stories about ebay. but i find myself still using it because i can get out of print items and books, movies, games, CDs for cheap. i would say though that my overall confidence and trust in using ebay has waned significantly in the past few years.

good idea ill keep that in mind. I agree though if you had a transaction that you thought was neutral like a small problem but nothing major either do what kramer did or just leave positive, I wish there was a review process for negative feedback or something but sadly there isn't any.

Sorry to hear!
But its common sense to expect a negative feedback when you give someone else a negative one.
