HD 580's are a good addition to any headphone collection. As Ichinichi pointed out they can be improved as your budget allows and only get better. I recently upcable my 580's with an SAA Equinox cable and was very impressed. But probably the biggest improvement comes from a dedicated amplifier. Buy a good sound card for your computer and it will drive whatever headphone you settle on much better.
