Both my folks and my grandma have Eames lounge chairs....as well as some other original Eames furniture as well. I'm keeping the tradition of contemporary European design. Unfortunately, the best contemporary furniture store in ATL just had a going out of business sale: House of Denmark. I ordered two of these chairs which are going to be my TV/ audio relaxation chairs. The floor models seemed just right: very comfortable, yet not overly huge chairs:

There's one in Alpharetta?? Where in Alpharetta? I would like to know since HoD is the best for nice furniture.....Bova is my second runner up. This one was the only one I know....that furniture row in Norcross. Got a letter from them saying that they were having going out of business sales. The owners were deciding to retire after 38 years of owning the store. This was a few weeks ago, so I'm pretty sure the storefront is now empty. Though I'll be in that furniture row tomorrow as I look for a bed for the second bedroom....I'll update if there's anything left. I think they've only got the warehouse open to make the last deliveries.

Can't really pick up these chairs since it's being upholstered in NJ....should be coming soon, I hope!

I must be crazy, but I just gave my Herman Miller chair away at work. I couldn't stand it. I could never get the lumbar right and it always slipped down a couple times a day when I did. My back started hurting, so I just got a nice folding chair from the closet and now I sit cross-legged at my computer.

Herman Miller wasn't for me.....no way.

Maybe I'm too tall for it......who knows?

Time to bring this back because I finally went to the university's library and what did I see? Practically the whole Herman Miller catalog, most computers had Mirras at them, some of the sitting areas had what appeared to be Eames Soft Pad executive chairs there and there were some chairs from the Celeste line in other lounges. I can not fathom the cost of the seating alone in that library, let alone all the pricey game consoles, Shuttle XPCs, and iMacs scattered around.

Herman Millar Aeron for me too....Love it..Alan

Had a Leap chair, really awesome imo. I switched to the Aeron for the mesh and the coolness when seated for awhile. Not living in Canada probably makes a difference "EH?" Both are recommended. Either one, with feet and calves up on the desk.

Can I transfer to your university please? Seriously, did your uni win the lottery or something?

Davesrose was right two years ago -- for listening, the answer is Ekornes.

Not for working, for listening.

These chairs are amazing -- I have searched for over a year and finally settled on this -- my wife is making me wait a few months before we order and it is driving me crazy. I have sat in chairs in furniture stores all over NJ and NYC, and this is THE ONE. Well there are multiple models, so find a store that has them all on the floor (I did -- Westco in East Hanover, NJ).

USA :: Ekornes

This was a timely dead thread bump, since there is a sale on now only thru Sept. 7th.

Ya gotta try these ...

I'm currently saving up for Herman Miller lounge w/ottoman. It's very expensive I think like $4,000. But it should last a lifetime and will never go out of style. I can't wait to buy it, the design and comfort is so awesome.

At my desk, I used to have an Aeron but now I sit in a Herman Miller Mirra chair. Here's my review and comparison of the two: Review of the Herman Miller Mirra Chair comparing to the Aeron | (tt) Tristan Tom | Fotografi
