Let's have some fun.
Obviously there are many more great drummers out there.
We're considering only Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genres.
Who are your Top 3 drummers?

It will be very interesting to see who will win.

I voted for John Bonham (Led Zeppelin):

I have a soft spot for BJ Wilson. He's got the strength of Bonham with a bit more jazz chops..........I love his work with Joe Cocker.....With a Little Help From My Friends

Ringo and Charlie Watts should be on this list regardless of their technical shortcomings

Not rock but jazz and big band...one of the greatest was Gene Krupa!

Lars Ulrich? Eric Carr? Puhleeze...

Speaking of jazz, lost a really great one last week in Max Roach.

Was trying to place BJ Wilson (for some reason I was thinking Beach Boys and ???). Liked him alot with Procol Harum.

I don't see Mitch Mitchell up there which I think is a glaring omission.

30 years ago it would have automatically been Carl Palmer for me. Stewart Copeland perhaps? Alot of good ones on the list.

Could Charlie Watts or Keith Moon diddle around with the technical accuracy of Neil Peart? Of course they couldn't. But Watts sure knows how to keep an exciting beat, and Keith Moon's style was sloppy but also endlessly musical and innovative, very influential and (to me) much more entertaining than technical perfection.

Also, x2 on the omission of Mitch Mitchell. The dude was Keith Moon on Ritalin, or Ginger Baker without the need to flash around with solos; his interaction with Hendrix was almost telepathic.

Copeland

Copeland or Moonie...but Sly Dunbar is darned good too, as is the slightly more obscure Chris Pedersen formerly of Camper Van Beethoven.

I can't stand Keith Moon.....he plays drums like Animal of the Muppets......hes the main reason I don't love the Who.

Pretty clearly Neal Peart.

Tough decision between Bonham and Peart, but I think Peart was simply the better drummer. Bonham was probably more exciting to watch, but I think Pert had the edge.

Yeah, but ...

Yeah, Mitchell, Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, ... and quite a few other names.
But could Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr, Mitchell ... win this poll???
I don't think so.
Regarding Carr and Ulrich ("Lord of Drums") ... some (not me) like them .
