Amazing voice. He always seemed like a gentleman too. Shame that none of us gets out of this experience alive.

RIP Luciano, you were blessed to be the vessel of one beautiful gift to humankind.

I saw him a couple of times on PBS, and have to say I was mesmerized -- sadly though, I do not have a single CD by this great man. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I have been watching the tributes to Pavarotti. I have little experience with opera. I really like "nessun dorma." Could someone recommend which CD I should get with Pavarotti. There are many. I want to get the best album by him that includes "nessun dorma."

I can recommend two Pavarotti CDs I have, which come from live recitals:

Luciano Pavarotti, Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall (1982)
Pavarotti in Hide Park (1992)

The Cds with the the three tenors, Pavarotti, Placido and Carreras, are also great. But I really don't know which CD might have the best rendition of specific pieces.

I heard about his death on NPR during my morning commute to work. It made for a pretty sad day. Being a classically-trained tenor, Pavarotti was always an inspiration.

My only regret is that I was never able to see him perform live.

May his voice ring for the ages and his spirit touch us again.
