Looking for specific guitar players

Hey all,

I am looking for a guitar player (or a group) that has the same kind of sound there is in those two In Flames songs :

Moonshield (0:05 - 0:50)
Man made God (1:05 - 1:30)

Pretty melodic but with heavy sting sounds.

Any help appreciated (along with some youtube links if there are some).

not metal

I just gave these three band a listen, they are not what I had in mind. Another song that sounds like what I'm looking for is:

Brothers in arms : the first part, where Mark Knofler is doing his slow guitar solo. Very melodic AND heavy-sounding.

What exactly have you heard from Dark Tranquilly?

Try "The Gallery", "Hedon" or "Auctioned".

Else dunno, don't usually hear anything more melodic or less heavy than that

Do you only enjoy this sequences from the two songs or do you enjoy the whole songs? If you like only this little parts it would be pretty hard finding a guitarist or a band that has the same sound. Some metal bands have a few acoustic pieces in their albums. Maybe you like:
In Flames - Acoustic Medley
In Flames - Varmlandsvisan (Live)
In Flames - Pallar Anders Visa
I - Shadowed Realms Intro
At The Gates - Into The Dead Sky
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
It's kinda hard if you like the style used by metal bands in acoustic parts of their songs but you don't like the song

With such a specific sound you're looking for, you might not easily be able to find one BAND that can reproduce the same sound often. Listening to anything out of Gothenburg will get you close to what you're looking for hopefully, but by no means is one guitarist going to reproduce that sound often in music.

the specific part.

I enjoy the whole songs (and In Flames in general), but I listen to very various styles of music (and I really dig acoustic and electric guitar works) and I found the combination of heaviness and melodicity (is that a word?) of the sole guitar playing in those passages, along with the pace of the said passages had a great appeal to me. As I said, I also found the same kind of sound in the 'Brothers in arms' song from the Dire Straits CD. I was looking more for songs (or even better a CD) which has the same kind of sound as the 3 passages (and not the whole songs).

That my friend is Buckethead. The album is called 'Crime Slunk Scene' and you can find it at www.tdrsmusic.com (I prefer the live version I posted, but the studio version is still very good).

But dude there are so many albums of his to choose from (over 60 now) and they're nearly all as good as the one I posted.

Judging by what you're looking for I would recommend the following albums;

Population Override
Colma
Thanatopsis - Axiology

All of which you should be able to find at www.tdrsmusic.com
