Flash memory is being pumped out like nuts, and the price is dropping.

I think i used it about once in iTunes, and discarted it then as pure eyecandy...

At least its something for kids to show off


I just saw they also gave the touch the "shiny metal a*s"..... oh my.....
EDIT: After looking at it for a while, i doesn't even makes sense from a designers point of view. Since they couldn't cover the wifi antenna with the chrome, there's this black corner. And this destroys the uniform look the iPod back was all about...

I like the new nano form factor, and the 160GB Classic actually surprised me. I was excpeting 80GB or maybe 100GB but not 160. I still use my 1st Gen Shuffle every once in a blue moon, since I don't really have any need for a portable music player currently. Anybody want to buy a 3rd Gen 40GB? :-)

i have a 5.5g ipod. just picked it up but it's OK! i'm getting it modded.

After watching the keynote adress, i still can't get it why people are chearing and applauding all the time. It's not like he's giving this stuff away for free. Sometimes you really think you're watching Oprah.

This is a cult/admiration i don't understand at all.....

"Yeah, i'm able to buy a 30sec. ringtone which costs me as much as the whole song. Whhoiii!" (I got a 2 year old Nokia, and i simply can choose every music file as a ringtone, for free....)

And the whole black-pullover-and-sneaker-thing is getting REALLY old.....

im sure there is a large APPLAUSE banner blinking somewhere on top or Apple employees get free entry to these shows

Exactly my thoughts. I can't understand why someone would buy a ringtone for most phones that can just handle mp3's as ringtones.

I've studied over the new models for a new flash player. I currently still use my 5g ipod for harddrive and have several flash players. But when comparing the new ipod nano's for instance the 8gb for $199, I'd think the new Creative Zen 8gb for $199 is much more appealing, better looking and a larger screen in still small form factor. I think Creative has a winning product.

i was actually thinking that if the ipod touch is actually a Iphone with the GSM module removed, then aplication instalation should be possible, it looks like a very nice PDA, could be the new newton,
it now depends on the sound quality and how much can be installed,

I really don't get why everyone is bashing the nano, it looks like that for video. And it doesn't look that bad. The 80 gig and 160 gig classics? Awesome. Cheaper than I anticipated. The touch? I had a hunch it was going to suck anyway, so OH NO! and then there's the shuffle, which no one is talking about because its still the same price and is still the size of a quarter (one of which I lose daily, thus eliminating any and all desire to pick up a shuffle at all).

Overall, I think apple is good at stringing the mindless consumer drones along without complaint and stirring those who expect more into a buzzing hive of activity. Thank you for your time.

I want to get the new iPod Classic 80 GB but one problem: can I still use the protective cases designed for the 5.5G iPod video? I express concern you need all-new case designs for the iPod Classic.

Look, I think people are viewing this completely the wrong way.

When I was a kid (and that was not that long ago), I was blown away by my computer because it was one of the first to have VGA! Later came the SuperNES and I thought that things were really getting spacey. Now look at these things.... Seriously people, the Sci Fi that we grew up wishing we could experience is hurtling towards us at one serious rate. By the time I have kids I will have to tell them to stop stuffing around with their cybernetic enhancements and where have they hidden the Holo-dog?

I can't wait till Ipod gets more storage though.....

On the subject of the Touch's 8GB and 16GB capacity, I have two words: smart playlists. You have to plug it in to charge every few days anyway, so just use that opportunity to get some new tunes.
