SoFla Fall Meet "The Storm Before the Jam" - 10/27/07 - Page 2

All right guys, you are really scaring me. Having never been to a meet before, I thought it would be a bunch of headphone geeks sitting in a dark room listening to headphones in total silence. Apparently, I pictured you guys all wrong. You are obviously a bunch of very sick individuals looking for any excuse to “get your freak on.” Strangely,... I feel very at home with this group! Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Be scared, be very scared.

It's nice to know there is another one like us down here. I look forward to meeting you.

I've been advised that Justin from Headamp will be joining us along with his new portable amp/dac.

They are trying to trick you into the same getup that nums will be wearing so he won't be the only maid at the meet. Don't fall for their evil trick.
OMG, Al! Are you trying to scare my unborn children with that thing? Maid outfits are now definitely not allowed. Actually, I was a maid once for real. Had a little poylester pale blue uni with white cuffs and a collar, but that's a story for another time.

So this thread has been up for one day and Ray, Justin, and Stephen are coming. We've got the amps, but you guys keep selling off all your headphones. Mikeg sold the HE-90s and R10s, John sold the PS-1s. Thrice sold his headphiled Lambda Pros I liked so much. Mike sold the 600s...oh, yes...to me ...but can you guys stop your selling your goodies before the meet? Mike's even hinted at being bored with the Edition 9s already, and no one else has had a chance to listen to them.

John Deere Boy,

Didn't I warn you in the last pm? If not, I apologize. I should have. I suggest strongly that you look in the impressions threads for our last meet in Tampa. If you can hang with that, and not want to run away, you're already one of us. Here's a couple pics that were left in my photobucket:

And, gentlemen, please note that I was very nice and didn't post some obviously tempting choices. Welcome to Florida head-fi, John Deere Boy!

Sorry man. I think of you as the guy that kicked my a** in foosbal and let me kick your a** in darts and downs mindbenders with the best of us, not a MOT. Having said that ROCKHOPPPER AUDIO IS IN THE HOUSE!

Vicki, I haven't heard from Ray so I don't know whether he is coming. I didn't send any invites out simply because I didn't think of it. As some of you know, I've been pretty busy work wise the last couple of weeks and it hasn't gotten any better. Justin saw the thread and said he would come. If Ray can make it that would be great. Same for Mikhail and anyone else. There is an open invitation to anyone that wants to join us.

Bored with the ED9, moi? I don't think so.

How did I miss that. Sorry Brother Ray. I am very happy you are going to make it. I promise, no sushi this year.

If I may say so, it would not be the same without you being here. Hope you can make it.

Ouch...this hurts my neck.

I look like a pigeon !

...and why, is Ray trying to pick John Grado's nose?

I take it from your post that you're coming to the meet. You could even dress as a pigeon if you'd like. It would be a very NYC costume and not easily confused with Stevieo's Chicken Little number, even though you'd both be winged.

Not knowing the proper etiquette for such an auspicious event, should anyone want to listen to any of my gear, please let me know and I will make it a point to bring it. Although, judging from the posts so far, listening to audio gear seems to be the last thing anyone is planning to do!
Perhaps each one of us should bring a signature piece of gear...one unique to us. That way the following morning, when the police find a stumbling, inebriated man dressed in a french maid costume mumbling something about lossy vs. lossless compression, they can look under his skirt and see a RSA SR-71 (ok, who am I kidding, a Tomahawk) and know its John_Deere_Boy.
