Top 20 All-time Favourite Artists/Bands

Thread Starter
If you could only listen to 20 artists for the rest of your life, who would they be? Looking at my own list, I realize it's almost exclusively populated with older, well known artists. That's not to say there aren't new, or more esoteric artists I really enjoy listening to, but these are the ones who IMO can pretty much do no wrong and who's body of work I enjoy, goes much deeper than a couple of good albums or a couple of good songs. Because of their track record, I'll find myself less critical of anything they do ... giving even their songs that I'm not initially impressed with a second and third chance to grow on me....and they often do. I've heard a couple of the older, over-played bands, like the Beatles, Zeppelin, and Stones for example, so many times that I'm somewhat burnt out by much of their catalogue, but I couldn't not include them and they'll always be in my top 20.

Anyway, it's fun to see what everyone's taste in music is.

So what's your top 20? Here's mine in no particular order.

Peter Gabriel / Genesis
Pink Floyd
David Bowie
Cure
U2
Kinks
Talking Heads / David Byrne
Strawbs
Tom Petty
Roxy Music / Brian Ferry
Chris Isaak
Neil Young
Eagles
Rolling Stones
Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler
Beatles
Supertramp
Blue Rodeo
Violent Femmes
Led Zeppelin
