Which Cable for My HD650s

I have a set of HD650s and I want to upgrade the cable but I want to make sure my selection works well with the music I listen to. I am a big fan of Classic Rock, Punk and 90s Alternative. I don't want to wait 2 months for a cable so the Equinox is pretty much out. My main source eventually with be a Music Hall MMF-5.1 going to a Tube Box II then to some kind of tube amp. So my signal chain is going to already be kind of warm. Thank you for any advise

Where's the Black Dragon? I thought the black dragon was designed for your genres of music?

Just an FYI, the headphile cables also do seem to have an 8 week waiting period (and then a week or up to three to build what you are going to order). Also, SA Equinox cables are offerd through dealers like TTVJ and such so...

That said, I'd probably go with a Zu Mobius or so, assumnig that your assumptions hold true.

I've had the Zu, blue Dragon, silver dragon, equinox, cardas, and black silver. I do listen to a lot of rock. The biggest differences between them are going to be matters of preference. Don't immediately discount the stock cable either - I found it to be smoother and more natural than the other cables once I got my turntable source. Before the TT, the Zu was easily my favorite. It's unique in that it can add some "sparkle" to the signature without totally ruining the HD650's tone. It also has great dynamics. I might eventually pick up another Zu for when I could use a change of flavor on my HD650. But yeah - even the stock cable can be *damn* good in the right system.

I just can't fathom spending $$$ on a Senn cable and then waiting several weeks for it to show up and then waiting again for it to burn in. Forget about all that clowning around when there's music to buy & listen to

apuresound.com. Alex will have your cables ready within a week, I'm sure..Unless he is super busy.. All my headphones been recabled by him. Couldn't be happier.

if you do end up getting the Zu be sure to grab v2 as it is purportedly more flexible than its predecessor.

No Cardas.

I would certainly add the Enigma Audio Oracle to that list. Wait time of around 1 week too.

X2...The Mobius-2 is a wonderful upgrade over the old Mobius. The new cloth-like jacket solves the microphonics problem that bothered many folks using the original version. Zu really should update the pictures and description on their web site because the new Mobius-2 is a big upgrade IMHO. I'm really happy with mine.

I'm glad to see this thread because I'm recabling my 650's soon as well (and at the same time upgrading source & amp, and adding a dac). I've been leaning towards Cardas simply because they seem to be the best bang-for-buck senn cable around. But of your choices, I chose Zu's because I've heard them and they are fantastic. Enjoy whatever you decide on and do let us know
