I am comparing it to the XtremeMusic for the sake of popularity.

IMHO, its definitely not worth it to upgrade from the Elite Pro. You will be dishing out 100 dollars for no improvement what-so-ever.

ah, well is the digital implementation better than creatives? I have a home theather i hook my card up to but its kinda shoddy. It mixes up my speakers for some reason and only works with 2.1. Wondering if DDL would be worth the 100 bux.

DDL encoding won't be implemented in the drivers until Q4 2007 (just because of some damn paperwork, apparently). DTS encoding will be implemented in Q1 2008 (for the same reason).

Just FYI guys, AC3 and DTS pass through SPDIF is not working in XP. Read the pdf linked in the review. If you are getting this card to hook it up to a multichannel receiver you will be severely disappointed until they release new drivers to fix this issue.

Hey I just got the card and installed it in my computer. I have to admit its a huge improvement from my x-fi platinum. Well it may not be huge, but its definitely noticeable. I find that the music has much more weight to it and the bass is soooo much fuller. The bass almost feels like speakers. This is just after listening to it for 5 minutes.

Currently my setup is this:

Prelude-->Homebrew amp-->AKG K701
and
Prelude-->Gilmore Lite--> Sennheiser HD650s

I have to admit that the great thing about this card is that you can map outputs so you can have 4 headphone outs. Currently I just have it such that my RL/RR output is the same as FL/FR.

Do you guys think the Prelude or XtremeMusic with LM4562 op amps and Black Gate capacitor would be able to drive the HD650's OK or would I see major benefits using an external amp?

This sounds exactly like when I changed the op-amps on my x-fi to LM4562

Do you have an Elite PRO to compare with just for fun? There is quite a big difference between the elite pro and the cheaper models . As for the op amp I tried the X-meridian and I kind of preferred the Xtrememusic even until I changed to the LM4562s that is standard here. Then I started to preferr the Xmeridian a bit. However the Elite PRO is one step above. So the question is how do the Prelude stick up to the X-meridian with the LM 4562:s

Also can it use the creative drivers? Which has the best vista 64bit support?
